Willie Beth Wells Clayton


Willie Beth Wells Clayton, 92, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, October 5 at Hight Assembly of God Church in Noxapater, Mississippi, with Bro. Tom Bentley officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the church from 1 p.m. until service time. A graveside service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7 at Memory Hill Cemetery in Bartlett, Tennessee.
Beth was born May 29, 1933, to Henry Wesley Wells and Margaret Smith Wells in Winston County, Mississippi. She was a member of Hight Assembly of God Church in Noxapater. Beth loved being outdoors, tending to her yard and garden for as long as she was able. She enjoyed being in the kitchen, especially during Christmas when she made candy such as fudge and divinity to share with family and friends. Beth was also known for making homemade mints for showers and community gatherings. Baking was one of her gifts, and her chocolate chip cookies were a favorite among those fortunate to receive them. A devoted fan of Ole Miss football, she passionately cheered for her Rebels every season.

Beth is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Wayne) Goudy of Oxford, Mississippi, and her son, William Andrew (Melissa) Clayton, Jr. of Germantown, Tennessee. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mallory (Andrew) Parks and Evan (Amy) Goudy; and her four great-grandchildren: James Parks, Harrison Parks, Katherine Parks, and Claire Elise Goudy. She also leaves behind four siblings: Faith Estes of Louisville, Mississippi, Linda Harper of Springfield, Missouri, Ruth Gunter of Mobile, Alabama, and Larry Wells of Noxapater; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Beth was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Glenn W. Wells and her sister, Ann Yarbrough.

Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Estes, Evan Goudy, David Wells, Chris Wells, Philip Wells, Nathan Wells. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in honor of Beth be given to Hight Assembly of God Church, 2224 Hight-Moore Road, Noxapater, MS 39346.
