Brett Golson and Rev. Billy Bowie officiating. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Murphy Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Hooks was born January 7, 1915, in Chickasaw County, MS. She was a retired customer service representative for Spartus Corporation, and a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of Eastern Star, The Joy Club, and The Grace Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Caleb Hooks Sr.; a son, George Caleb Hooks Jr.; her parents, Arthur D. Ruth and Edna Irene Thomas; four brothers, Gilman Ruth, B.T. Ruth, Charles Ruth, Leon Ruth, and Grady Ruth; and one sister, Dorothy Faye Acker. She is survived by one daughter, Ouida (William) Donald of Louisville, MS; two sons, Kenneth E. Hooks of Louisville, MS and Johnnie Horace (Pat) Hooks of Howell, MI ; a sister, Lavelle Haggard of Mobile, AL; 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was an umpire and referee for public and private school sports for over 40 years, a Mason and member of the Forest Hill Lodge and a past Worthy Patron for the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. McDonald was also a member of Raymond Road Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Eudean McDonald. Survivors include his sons Michael (Dixie) McDonald of Clinton and Larry (Tina) McDonald of Greer, SC; daughter Angela (Steve) Foote′ of Crystal Springs; brother Linwood McDonald of Meridian; sisters Leddie Hill of Collinsville, Maxine Gandy of D’Iberville and Joyce Sullivan of Louisville; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mr. John W. Kinard, 85, died Thursday, January 13, 2011, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 29th, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kinard was born May 13, 1925, in Winston County, MS. He served during World War II in North Africa and Italy, including the Battle of Monte Cassino. He was twice wounded, awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for bravery under fire. With the war’s end, he returned to Starkville, Ms, where he met and married Mary Emma Gregg. On May 25th, they would have been married for 65 years. He was a retired welder, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Louisville He is survived by his wife, Mary Gregg Kinard; three sons, James Kinard of Ohio, Mike Kinard, of Louisville, MS, and John A. Mrs. Martha Woodward Daly, 81, died Wednesday, January 12th, 2011, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Jan. 15th, at Louisville Presbyterian Church, with Minister Nathan Eldridge officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery. Due to frozen and burst pipes in the Louisville Presbyterian Church, the visitation will be at Porter Funeral Home from 10 AM until 12 Noon on Saturday. Funeral services will be at the church at 1:00 PM as originally announced. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Daly was born July 4, 1929, in Louisville, MS. She was retired personnel director of Spartus Corp, and was a member of Louisville Presbyterian Church. She was an avid supporter of Mississippi State University sports, and loved animals, especially her dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Ettie Mae Woodward, and two brothers, David Woodward and Roland Woodward.

Mrs. Kaye Livingston McDaniel, 52, died Sunday, January 9, 2011, while on a cruise in the Caribbean. Funeral services have not been set at this time. Interment will be in Bevil Hill Cemetery. Kaye was born August 26, 1958 in Louisville, MS. She was a proud graduate of Louisville High School class of 76, and received her B.S. and Master degrees from Mississippi State University. She had been a caring and dedicated educator at schools in Newton, Choctaw and Winston counties before retiring as Counselor at Louisville High School. Kaye believed strongly in education and sponsored 2 scholarships in memory of her parents at Louisville High School and Winston Vocational School. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Ricky McDaniel of Louisville, step-son Rick McDaniel (Sheryl) of Washington D.C.; step-daughter Misty Stoy of St. Amant, LA; 3 grand-daughters Kati Lynn and Londyn Stoy, and Erin McDaniel; a sister Darlyne (Wayne) Cullwell of Louisville, MS, and nieces Peggy Skinner and Kathy Robertson. She also leaves behind several students and former students that she considered her children. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at University Medical Center – Cancer Institute for giving her the chance to fight and the Crew of the Crown Princess cruise ship for the support provided in helping her return home to her family and friends. Fern Baxter King, age 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 2nd, 2011. Visitation will be held at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, MS, Tuesday, January 4th, from 9am to 11am. Immediately following visitation, funeral services will be held at the funeral home. Fern Baxter was born in Mason, TN, the daughter of the late Don and Carrie Baxter. She attended Whitworth College in Brookhaven, MS in 1939. She married Eugene R. King in 1940 and as a devoted wife, loved and supported him in his business and civic interests. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church for many years, participating in the Methodist Young Adult group and the Ed Livingston Sunday School Class. She was one of the founders of the Methodist Young Adult Fellowship and was one of the first to serve in the Bertha Kennett Memorial Library. She was a great supporter of North Mississippi Emmaus and Methodist Foreign Missions. In 1993, she was named Woman of the Year of Winston County. She will be most remembered as a beloved mother, a cherished grandmother and great grandmother who devoted her life to her family. Fern had an outgoing personality. She will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched. Fern Baxter King is survived by her daughters Peggy King Yarbrough and husband Daniel “Moe” of Louisville, MS and Linda King Dunnaway and husband Danny of Brookhaven, MS; grandchildren, Scott Ray and wife Dawn, Amanda M.
