Funeral services for Mr. Wendell R. Manning will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Mars Hill Pentecostal Church in Winston County. Rev. Bryan Madison, Rev. Lonoia Burks, Rev. Dwight Fleming and Rev. Lloyd Adcock will be officiating the service. The body will lie in state 2 hours prior to service at the church. Interment will be in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County. Visitation 4-8 PM Saturday, August 31, 2019 at John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services.
Mr. Manning, 81, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Neshoba County Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He lived in Mars Hill Community all of his life. He was a self employed logger for 50 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Mr. Manning was a member of Mars Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Civil Defense-Winston County, Mississippi Firefighter’s Association, Winston County Firefighter’s Association and Auxillary Deputy Sheriff-Winston County. Mr. Manning was a Tornado Spotter, keeping everyone safe on “The Rock”. He organized many benefits in the community and was a friend to all!
Mr. Manning is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Pam Manning of Philadelphia; Mother, Lydia Manning of Philadelphia; Sons, Tim Manning and his wife, Karen of Philadelphia, Ted Manning and his wife, Barbara of Philadelphia, Sam Manning and his wife, Dawn of Memphis and Donald Joe Nowell and his wife, Vanessa of Philadelphia; (5) Grandchildren, Jessica Barnett and her husband, Allan, Kaitlin Copeland and her husband, Jason, Belle Manning, Minnie Nowell and Lyra Nowell; (1) Great-Grandchild, Ivy Kait Copeland. He was preceded in death by his father, Therrell Samuel Manning.
Pallbearers: Dewayne Howard, Glen Sisson, Derek Wyatt, Billy Vowell, Jason Pugh, Terry Fortenberry and Nathan Commer.
