Wesley T. Roebuck

A graveside service for Wesley T. Roebuck will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. from Tucker Cemetery in Kemper County with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 until 1:00 p. m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.

Mr. Roebuck, 92, of Preston, died Saturday November 26, 2022, at his home.

Born and raised in Kemper County, MS, he attended Cleveland schools in Kemper County, later graduating from Lynville High School, and then joining the U. S. Marine Corp where he served for 20 years. He fought in the Korean War, Vietnam Conflict, and Panama; and received a Purple Heart. He then attended EMCC and graduated with a degree in business and later attended MSU where he received a degree in accounting. He served over 50 years as a Mason, Lodge #64. He loved to build a variety of things, gardening and bush hogging; and was always willing to help anyone in need.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Roebuck of Preston, MS; stepdaughters, Jennifer Vowell of Noxapater, MS, and Angie Tidwell (Scott) of Noxapater, MS; sister, Elizabeth Bond of Preston, MS.

Mr. Roebuck was preceded in death by parents, Nathan and Pearl Roebuck; one infant son; and nine brothers and sisters and step-son-n-law Ivey Vowell.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to be made to Tucker Community Church Cemetery Fund, Kemper County.

Frankie Jean Bennett

Frankie Jean Bennett was born February 10, 1956, in Winston County, Mississippi, to Mr. Pete Bennett and Mrs. Ida Mae Bennett. She accepted Christ at an early age. She departed this life on November 20, 2022.

She was a graduate of Louisville High School Class of 1974.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: William Bennett and Johnny Ray Bennett, and sister Edna Bennett.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Kelsey Thompson (Daniel) of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Kells Jackson (Kearee) of Nashville, Tennessee; her brothers, Pete Bennett and Jerry Bennett of Louisville, Mississippi, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Jessie Mae Watts

Jessie Mae Watts, 77, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, at the Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ackerman, Mississippi. Jessie Mae was born January 14, 1945, to Luther and Lura Seward Ward. She enjoyed working in her yard and solving word puzzles. She loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her Bible.

Jessie Mae is survived by her husband, David Johnson; and her sister Gladys Kirk both of Louisville. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Linda Bateman.

Richard Lynn Tennyson

Richard Lynn Tennyson, age 70, passed away November 18, 2022, at his home in Ackerman, MS. Richard was born on June 21, 1952, in Starkville, MS. He moved from Mooreville, MS, to Ackerman after high school to work for his aunt and uncle at Ackerman Hardware. Later he was employed for over 30 years by the MS Department of Transportation. In earlier years, Richard was an avid softball player, hunter, and golfer. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather. He never met a stranger and he was a faithful friend to many. Richard served his country as a member of the 155th Armored Brigade and participated in Operation Dixie Thunder in support of Operation Desert Storm. Richard was a member of Chester Baptist Church.

Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pam Warner Tennyson, his son Rick (Paula) Tennyson, granddaughter Casi Tennyson, and step-grandson Devan Murphy, all of Ackerman. He was preceeded in death by his parents, RC Tennyson and Elaine Oxford, and his sister, Nita Hunt.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Chester Baptist Church in Ackerman, MS. Family will receive friends and visitors prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Don Ray Thompson

Mr. Don Ray Thompson, 89, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 23rd, at Enon Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. Wednesday until service time at the church. Interment will be in Enon Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Don was born April 30, 1933, in Jackson, MS. He graduated from Central High School in Jackson. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy immediately after graduation and served from 1952 thru 1956. After his service, he attended Mississippi State University, Hinds Junior College, and graduated from Millsaps College in 1961. While he was attending college in 1956, he married Joyce Woodruff of Louisville, MS. His career was with the National Park Service, having worked in parks in Florida, Virginia, Minnesota, and Mississippi. His last assignment was as District Superintendent of the Natchez Trace Parkway.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Frank Thompson, his mother, Lula Harrison Thompson; a brother, Frances Thompson, a sister, Ellen Meadows, and a special aunt, Maude Beauchamp.

Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Woodruff Thompson of Tupelo, MS; a son, David Lance (Mitzi) Thompson of Tupelo, MS; a daughter, Donna Lynn (Bobby) Whitlock of Spotsylvania, VA; grandchildren, Amanda Richards, Austin Whitlock, and Amy Whitlock, all of Spotsylvania, VA and Leah Beth Kenney and David Ray Thompson, both of Tupelo; and four great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Vowell, 74, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Neshoba General Nursing Home. She lived most of her life in Neshoba County and was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. Her hobby was watching TV.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl Dewitt Thompson and Vera Shearer Thompson; son, Donnie Dale Vowell.

Walrickus Cistrunk

Walrickus Cistrunk was born on April 1, 1977, to the union of Dorothy Faye and JC Cistrunk. Walrickus is preceded in death by his loving parents and his brother, Montague Cistrunk.

At a young age, Walrickus confessed a hope in Christ at Greensboro Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Louisville, Mississippi. Walrickus loved sports, hunting, music, and horse racing.
Walrickus passed away on November 6, 2022. There was a memorial service on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Taylor's Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville.

Mr. Vernon Nelson Ray

Mr. Vernon Nelson Ray, 92, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022, at his home in Weir, MS. A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 11th, at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko, MS.

Mr. Ray was born October 25, 1930, in Minter City, MS. He was an Army veteran and a retired house painter. He is preceded in death by his wife, Diana Ray; his parents, Willie Virginia and Arthur Allen Ray, Sr.; and three brothers, Arthur Allen Ray, Jr., William Aaron Ray, and Charles Mack Ray.

He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Eva Sue Morris Burt

Eva Sue Morris Burt was born on July 11, 1933, and was healed completely and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi, with Kiel Higginbotham and Bobby Hardy officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater, Mississippi.

On July 11, 1933, Eva was born to Alfred E. Morris and Clara Massey Morris in Noxapater. She married Jim W. Burt on December 29, 1949, when she was 16 years old and joined him in his military career. They were married 71 years. Eva worked for Spartus Clock Factory when Jim retired from the military and they moved back to Noxapater, Mississippi. They loved traveling and camping with their friends. Eva was a lifetime member of Noxapater Baptist Church.

Eva is survived by her children, Teresa Burt Hardy (Bobby) and Tim Burt (Lori). One of her greatest joys was being called “Maw” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are Tiffany B. Bruton (Shawn), Tyler Smith, Lara Burt Higginbotham (Kiel), Sabrina Hardy Smith, and Stacie Hardy Holland (Adam). Great-grandchildren are Kinsley and Riley Bruton, Taelor and Marley Smith, Carson and Brady Smith, Owen Holland, and Jett and Lake Higginbotham, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews who remained close to her and whom she adored.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wood Burt, Jr.; an infant son; her granddaughter, Briana Leigh Burt; her parents; her twin sister, Neva; and other siblings, Betty Vanderford, Edris Hodge, Mary Lynn Permenter, Cecil Morris, Hazel Young, and George Morris.

Serving as pallbearers Shawn Bruton, Brad Hodge, Sid Massey, Keith Matzek, Danny Mills, and Wes Stapp.

Stephens Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Breazeale,76, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS. She lived most of her life in Neshoba County and was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church in Winston County. 

Her hobbies and special interest were her grandsons, her baby “Sassy”, and reading.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Clarice Kidnocker.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Breazeale of Philadelphia; daughter, Leanna Lewis (Monty) of Philadelphia; son, Ronald Breazeale (Christina) of Philadelphia; brother, Clifford Coleman of Carthage; (2) grandsons, Justin and William.

William Lamar “Bill” Strawbridge

William Lamar "Bill" Strawbridge, 79, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Baptist Attala Hospital in Kosciusko, MS. He was born September 4, 1943, in Choctaw County, MS, to Maxie and Mable Elizabeth (Alford) Strawbridge. Bill was an active member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS. Before retiring, he was a serviceman for many years with Mississippi Power & Light, and later with Entergy. During his 40 year career at Entergy, Bill was a loyal friend to his co-workers and a valued resource to countless citizens and business owners in Sunflower County and the Mississippi Delta.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS, with Rev. Jerry Lawson and Rev. Buddy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Cemetery near McCool, MS. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman will be in charge of arrangements.

Francis “Frank” Neil Ainsworth, Jr.

Francis “Frank” Neil Ainsworth, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Noxapater, Mississippi, on Friday, November 4, 2022. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday, November 7 at Union Ridge Baptist Church in Noxapater, Mississippi, with Bro. Greg Thomas officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Union Ridge Cemetery.

Frank was born October 11, 1936, to Francis Neil Ainsworth, Sr., and Lillian Barnes Ainsworth in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Fayette High School in Fayette, Mississippi; Co-Lin Community College in Wesson, Mississippi; and he earned both his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Mississippi State University.

Frank was a faithful member of Union Ridge Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He also was a member of the Winston-Choctaw Gideon Camp.

He and his wife relocated to Winston County in 1959 where he was Vo-Ag teacher, bus driver, and assistant football coach at Noxapater High School until he started to work for Mississippi State University Extension Service. Mr. Ainsworth retired from Mississippi State University Extension Service with 26 years of service. He assisted with coaching Pee Wee football at Winston Academy for several years and frequently had former players fondly recall their days playing under his guidance. He will be remembered as a true friend and for the way he made everyone he met feel loved.

He leaves his devoted wife of 66 years, Sunshine Arnold Ainsworth; and his daughters, Trudy Glusenkamp and husband Kevin; and Fran Stevenson and husband Mark; and his devoted dog, Doodle. One of his greatest joys was being “Paw Paw” to his five grandsons: Quinton (Kayla) Stevenson; Ethan (Deah) Stevenson, Sam Glusenkamp, Travis Stevenson, and John Allan Stevenson; as well as his three great-granddaughters: Nora Stevenson, Nikki Stevenson, and Lily Stevenson. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Aubrey Ainsworth; his mother-in law, Irene Arnold; and his father-in-law, Earl “Bug” Arnold.

Serving as pallbearers are Quinton Stevenson, Ethan Stevenson, Sam Glusenkamp, Travis Stevenson, John Allan Stevenson, and Don Greenwood. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Gideon Saturday Morning Prayer Group. Memorials in honor of Mr. Ainsworth may be given to the Winston-Choctaw Gideon Camp, P. O. Joe Vowell

Early Joe Vowell, 87, passed away at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi, on Friday, November 4, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Joe was born April 2, 1935, to Earl and Maude Saxon Vowell. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. He loved Rabbit hunting and watching westerns on television. Joe loved watching Weir High School football. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Joe is survived by his three children, Beverly Vowell (Jerry) Sisson and Tim Vowell of the Panhandle Community and Amanda Vowell (Ricky) Brock of Ackerman, Mississippi. He also leaves behind a sister, Ruth Reed of Panama City, Florida. One of his greatest joys was being “Paw Paw” to his seven grandchildren: Kevin Sisson, Kristy (Brian) Thrasher, Pam (Wayne) Hobson, Clay (Sharon) Vowell, Joey Vowell (Lauren Jackson), Jean Ann Brock, and Giffin Brock and seven great grandchildren Hanna Sisson, Madison Sisson, Brody Sisson, Conner Thrasher, Reagan Thrasher, Henry Hobson, and Jaclyn Hobson as well as host of nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Romedy Vowell; his son, Randall Vowell, his parents, Earl and Maude Saxon Vowell, six brothers, Woodrow Vowell, Hubard Vowell, Aaron Vowell, Mike Vowell, T.J. Vowell, and Fredrick “Buddy” Vowell; and six sisters, Mary Pearl Walters, Sara Romedy, Sue Oliver, Marguerite Sisson and two infants.

Serving as pallbearers are William Thomas Vowell (son), Victor Romedy, David McCulloch, Pete Vowell, Daniel Vowell, and Dewitt Vowell. Forrest Romedy will be serving as an Honorary Pallbearer. Memorials in honor of Joe may be given to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund.

Margaret Fountain

Mrs. Margaret White Fountain, 89, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at her home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, November 8th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Mayo and Rev. David Keen officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Murphy Creek Baptist Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret was born August 29, 1933, in Louisville, MS. She was a bookkeeper for Spartus Corporation and worked in accounting at Bellwood. She was a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton D. Fountain; her parents, Leona Hollis White and George Robert White; one daughter, Margaret Ann Coleman; one son, Don Hunt and daughter-in-law Shirley Hunt; a sister, Eddie Flake, and a brother, J. W. White.

She is survived by her daughter, Wauwice (Kenneth) Hubbard of Christianburg, VA; two sons, Larry Hunt of Louisville, MS and Pat (Debbie) Hunt of Louisville, MS; two brothers, Lamar (Dean) White of Macon, MS and Douglas (Donna) White of Louisville, MS; her sister, Margie (Kenny) Morris of Noxapater, MS; a sister-in-law, Sara White of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.

Thomas “Tommy” McKinley

Mr. Irvin Thomas “Tommy” McKinley, age 70, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 6th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. David Keen officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until the service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Tommy was born September 14, 1952, in Louisville. He worked in quality control for Taylor Machine Works and had a love for farming, hunting, and fishing. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and a longtime Sunday School teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Thomas McKinley and Billy Joe McKinley; two grandchildren, Brandon Thomas McKinley and Whit Logan McKinley; and his brother, Timothy McKinley.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon Rogers McKinley of Louisville; his daughter, Maria (Jason) Thompson of Louisville; his son, William (Natalie) McKinley of French Camp; and three grandchildren, Mac Thompson, Will Thompson, and Lili Grace McKinley.

Serving as pallbearers will be the Deacons and Young Men’s Sunday School Class of Bethel Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Bethel Cemetery Fund.

Edward E. Bouchillon

Mr. Edward E. Bouchillon, 83, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Oak Cottage at the Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS.

Ed was born July 21, 1939, in Attala County, MS. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Bouchillon; and his parents, Dorothy M. Pegram Bouchillon and Cleo D. Bouchillon.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Taylor Bouchillon of Louisville; his daughter, Ann Carter of Hopkinsville, KY; his son, Craig Bouchillon of Pensacola, FL; 3 sisters, Louise (Junior) Stewart of Louisville, Lois Goodin, and Dedra (Jeff) Burt; and one brother, Lawrence (Gerrie) Bouchillon.

No services will be held at this time.
