Ms. Billie Nowell Bailey, 88, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 2, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with Rev. Greg Thomas and Rev. Antoine Stokes officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Noxapater, Mississippi.
Ms. Bailey was born in Neshoba County, Mississippi, on January 15, 1929, to Ben and Ruby Stephens Nowell. She was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church; and she was retired after serving as a CNA in various hospitals and as a private caregiver. Ms. Bailey loved flea markets and estate sales, and until his death, she and her husband, Milt, enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Reed and husband, David of Noxapater; and her sister, Bertha Beckham, of Gladwin, Michigan. One of her greatest joys was being “Granny B” to her four grandchildren: Tammy Thomas and husband, Doug; Mike Reed and wife, Michelle; Jay Reed; and Tonya Donald and husband, Jack. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Tiffany Byrd and husband, Adam; Cassie Thomas; Austin, Cole, Ross, and Lake Reed; and Kyle, Dylan, and Abby Vance; and by great-great-granddaughter, Joy Haven Byrd. Ms. Bailey is preceded in death by her husband, Milt Bailey; her son, Jimmy Parker; her parents and siblings.
Serving as pallbearers are Bennie Bryan, David Bryan, Don Greenwood, Cole Reed, Ross Reed, and Rex Allen Smith. Memorials may be given to Union Ridge Baptist Church, c/o Jamie Clark, 1629 Johnson 5 Road, Noxapater, MS 39346.
