Doris Kay Butts, 71, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Bowie and Rev. Michael Pinion officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kay was born June 5, 1944, to Clyde Lester and Doris Riddell Cummins. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville where she was currently serving as president of the Joy Club. Kay was a strong member of Joan Agent’s Sunday School class which she enjoyed very much. She was retired from South Central Bell and her career as a Dispatch Service Assistant.
Kay is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert “Bob” Butts of Louisville; her daughters, Tammy Ray and husband, Scott, of Richland, Mississippi; and Michelle Butts of Morton, Mississippi; and her sons, Wayne Butts and wife, Jamie, of Pontotoc, Mississippi; and Tim Butts and wife, Lisa, of Pearl River, Louisiana. One of her greatest joys was being “Nonny” to her seven grandchildren: Dallas, McKenzie, and Maggie Butts; Taylor and Austin Perry; Zachary White, and Bristol Buffington; and her great-granddaughter, Kendalie White. Also left to mourn her passing is two brothers, Gerry Cummins and wife, Jean, of Drew, Mississippi; and Lester Cummins and wife, Carolyn, of Louisville; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Linda Louise Gower and Patsy Ann Overton; and a brother, Clyde Dwayne Cummins.
