David Phillip Watson, 69, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi. A private family funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 10 with Reverend Mike Dowd officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Memorial Cemetery as a private family service.
David was born April 9, 1955, to Earl and Peggy Rose Peterson Watson in Meridian, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Winston Academy and of Mississippi State University where he earned a political science degree. David ran a family business, Louisville Hickory Plant, for many years with his father and brother.
David enjoyed fishing, bird watching, playing music, and had an appreciation for architecture. He was kind hearted, extremely thoughtful, and had an amazing sense of humor. Most of all, David loved his children and two grandchildren and was a wonderful father and grandpa.
David is survived by his son, David Phillip Watson, Jr., of Houston, Texas; and daughter, Laura Watson Kujawa and son-in-law, Kevin Kujawa of Chicago, Illinois; his sister-in-law, Lisa Watson Wilson of Louisville; and his brother-in-law, Ron Collins, of New Orleans, Louisiana. One of his greatest joys was being “Grandpa Dave” to his two grandchildren, River Holland Kujawa and Ruby Inez Kujawa. David is also survived by his nieces: Katie Watson (Will) Butts; Maggie Watson (Aaron) Fortin; and Maddie Rose Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elton Watson; and sister, Janet Watson Collins.
