Juanita Myres Herrington, 78, died April 23, 2010, at Mississippi Baptist Hospital. Visitation is Sunday, April 25, 2010, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 with burial in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, MS is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Herrington was born October 17, 1931 in the Vowell community in Winston County. In 1954, she married Chester Herrington of Louisville, Miss., where they made their home and raised their son, Checky.

She was the librarian for Louisville Middle School until her retirement and had previously worked as a bookkeeper for the Louisville city clerk and Winston County chancery clerk’s office. She was a member of Louisville’s First Baptist Church, where she cherished relationships made in her Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Republican Women's Club.

Mrs. Herrington is remembered for the many gestures of warmth, thoughtfulness and care she expressed in everyday life. She enjoyed Sunday afternoon picnics, spending time with family and friends, and listening to old hymns. Guests in her home could always count on fresh-baked homemade sugar cookies, or a slice of their favorite cake or pie.

She loved gardening and was once awarded yard of the month, and she always saved her best homegrown tomatoes for friends and neighbors. Over the years, she mailed countless cards and notes to friends and family members to commemorate all occasions, or just to say hello.

John H. Ruth Sr., 90, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at the Choctaw County Nursing Center in Ackerman. He was born May 29, 1919, in Itawamba County to Mishia Stevens Ruth and Fred L. Ruth. He worked for Mississippi State University in the Agronomy Department for 25 years. He was a Methodist and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifelong farmer, who shared his harvest of vegetables with the community. Mrs. Jarvis, 88, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory.
Mrs. Jarvis was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Neshoba County. She was a 1942 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in education. She was a former school teacher, having taught in Longino, Linwood, Nanih Waiya, Calhoun, and Linville. She taught until 1957, when she began working with her husband at Jarvis Oil Company from 1957 until 1993. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville, and the D.A.R.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Jarvis; her parents, Virgie Stokes and Green Harvey Fulton; and her brothers, G. W. Fulton, Grady Fulton, and Glenn Fulton.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Chaney, and her husband, Pat, of Amory; three sisters, Wauldine Grace Houston of Madison, Bobbie Cannon of Philadelphia and Shirley Fulton of Jackson; a brother, Forrest Fulton of Philadelphia; and three grandchildren, Patrick, Edward, and Walton Chaney.

Mr. John Henry Gully, 75, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, on Thursday, April 9, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Mr. Gully was born April 26, 1934, in Winston County, MS. He was a retired dairy farmer and worked pipeline for H. C. Price Co. He served on the Winston County Board of Supervisors for 5 years, and on the Community Counseling Foundation Board for 18 years. He was an Army veteran and a member of East Louisville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludie Fulton and John Henry Gully, Sr., and a brother, Jimmy Gully. He is survived by his wife of 55years, Patricia Eaves Gully; a daughter, DeAnna (Keith) Stanley of Louisville; a son, John Mark (Alice) Gully of Louisville; a sister, Jannye Perkins of Brandon, MS; two brothers, Charles Gully of Louisville, and J. Mr. Yarbrough was born May 31, 1940, in Detroit, MI. He was the son of Jack and Charlotte Yarbrough. He was a graduate of Miss. State University, and received his Masters from SMU. He was a retired banker. Mrs. Nell Triplett Pickle, 87, of Louisville, died peacefully at her home on March 24, 2010. Mrs. Pickle was born December 12, 1922, in Oktibbeha County. In a family of fourteen children, she was the tenth child born to Arthur Jess and Stella Burgess Odom. She owned and operated Triplett's Grocery on Highway 25 north for 42 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mrs. Pickle is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and John Parkes of Louisville; grandson, Jason, and wife, Amy of Brandon; granddaughter, Allyson, and husband, Justin Duvall of Brandon; great grandchildren, Jace and Auburn Parkes, and Braden and Britton Duvall, all of Brandon. She is also survived by one sister, Bertie Lee Ivy of Louisville and numerous nieces, nephews, and friend. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 26th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Smith and Rev. Phil Fancher officiating. Interment will be in Craig Springs Cemetery in Oktibbeha County. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Mr. Albert Anderson, 83, died on Friday March 19, 2010, at his home in Preston, Mississippi.

Albert Roosevelt Anderson was born March 7, 1927 to the late Willie Chester and Noner Anderson in Winston County Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Vera Harmon, Callie Houston and Chesteen Drummond and one brother, John Willie Anderson.
He leaves to cherish his memories two brothers, Obie (Jean) Anderson of Preston, MS., and Randolph(Ruth) Anderson of Louisville, MS., one sister, Addie Mae Hill of Louisville, MS., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Joyce Hale McGlaun Hudson, 82, died March 21, 2010, at Tri Lakes Medical Center, Batesville. Joyce was born on July 23, 1927, in Houston, Mississippi to Earl R. and Arlene Hale. She grew up in Louisville and was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. Joyce graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Education. She married Ellis H. McGlaun in 1947. They resided in Florida, Louisiana, Virginia, and Nebraska and Joyce enjoyed teaching school in all of these locations. Upon Ellis' death in 1980, Joyce returned to her hometown of Louisville and in 1985, married Reginald Hudson. Preceded in death by Reginald in 2004, Joyce remained in Louisville for one year until failing health required being closer to her daughters. She is survived by two daughters along with their husbands; Joy and Bill Drake of Batesville, and Sally and Tommy Truitt of Nashville, Tennessee. Joyce had four grandchildren; Woody and Haley Drake of Batesville and Diggs and Ellie Truitt of Nashville She is also survived by a step-son and step-daughter and their spouses; Mike and Debbie Hudson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Patty and Steve Younger of Ridgeland; and their children Stephanie and Jennifer Hudson of Tuscaloosa and Brad and Emily Younger of Ridgeland. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 24 at Porter Funeral Home with service to follow at 2:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Reverend Mike Childs. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Drake, Tommy Truitt, Woody Drake, Mike Hudson, Steve Younger, and Brad Younger.
