Mrs. Savell, 47, of Louisville, died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at her home.

She was born in Louisville and made her home in the Four Corners community all of her life. She was a 1986 graduate of Noxapater High School, attended East Central Community College for two years, and then received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Mississippi State University. She was a teacher for eight years at Carthage Elementary School and was a loving housewife. Mrs. Savell was a member of First Baptist Church in Edinburg.

Survivors include her husband, Dalton Oliver Savell of Louisville; stepson, Thomas Savell of Biloxi; mother, Betty Ruth Todd of Louisville; and brother, Paul Richard Todd of Louisville.

Mrs. Savell was preceded in death by her father, Charles Richard Todd.

James Elliot Peterson

Mr. James Elliot Peterson, 93, died March 28, 2016, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 3rd, at 1:30 P.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church in Louisville. Rev. Scott Phillips will be officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joy Coleman Henry

Joy Coleman Henry, a sixth generation Mississippian and a ninth generation American, died on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, with the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection. Mrs. Henry was born on July 21, 1928, near Shivers in Simpson County, Mississippi in the house that her pioneer ancestors had built a century earlier. Her parents were George Anselm Coleman and Inez Myers Coleman.

Mrs. Henry grew up in Magee. As a child she possessed such a beautiful singing voice that she had her own show on a Jackson radio station where she was billed as “The Songbird of the South.” She even went to New York and sang as a contestant on the nation-wide radio program “Major Bowes’s Original Amateur Hour,” which was a predecessor to the current television show “America’s Got Talent.”

Inez M. Taylor

On Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, Mother, "Memaw," Inez M. Taylor went quiet in the night leaving her earthly family to be united with her heavenly one. She was born December 12th 1921, to Abbey Denton and Frankie Dudley McAdams.

She was instrumental in teaching ladies Bible class for numerous years. Her number one goal in life was to seek souls for salvation.

She believed in, and instilled, family tradition. She organized family reunions earl on that are still taking place today. Her record was seeing smiling faces sharing love, one to another.

She was an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoyed hearing Jack Kristal say, "You can wrap this one in maroon and white!"

Funeral Services for Mrs. Taylor will be held on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at 2PM at Ackerman Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held Tuesday March 29, 2016 from 5PM until 8PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of all arrangements.

Survivors include daughter Barbara Taylor, daughter Katherine Taylor Wood, Son, Sedgie Taylor, and a brother Billy McAdams. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Diane Rhodes Taylor, grandchildren, Kerri Taylor Whittington (Alan, Chancey, Haven, Haisley, and Whitleigh Myers), Chance Taylor (Devon), Leigh Taylor Thomas (Matt, John Landry, Kross, and Kenner), Michael Wood, Taylor Wood (Penny, Rhys, Allie, And Bree), and John Taylor.

She is preceded in death by son, John Robert Taylor, brothers, Charles McAdams, James McAdams, and Grady McAdams, sisters, Grace McAdams, Irene Edwards, and Emily Fondren, She was also preceded by grandchildren Layne Taylor and Christian Whittington.

The family request all memorials in memory of Ms. Taylor to be made to the Ackerman Church of Christ 470 Seward Street Ackerman, MS 39735.

Billy R. Ray, 76, a retired factory worker for Hackney and Hardwire, passed away Saturday March 26, 2016 at the Choctaw Regional Medical Center in Ackerman, MS. Mr. Ray was born October 11, 1939 in Choctaw County, MS. He was a veteran of the United States Army and his faith was of the Baptist religion.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ray will be held on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at 10AM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Interment will follow in the Salem Independent Methodist Church Cemetery near Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held Tuesday March 29, 2016 from 5PM until 8PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ray, Daughter, Tina Renee Ray, Brother, Dale Ray, and parents, James Harvey and Bernice Marie (Alexander) Ray. He is survived by his sons, Scott Ray of Tulsa Oklahoma, and Spence McCulloch of Ackerman, MS, daughters, Mignon Nix (Gene) of Moore, Oklahoma, and Alynda Loney (Jeff) of Ackerman, MS, and his two sisters, Patsy Ray (Lamar) of Oxford, MS, and Gay Stacy (Don) of Ackerman, MS. Mr. Ray is also survived by twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to the Salem Cemetery Fund.

Jack was born January 11, 1931, to Houston Glenn and Ercle Moore McAdory. He earned a Machinist degree from Ross Collins Vocational School in Meridian, Mississippi. He retired as a machinist with the G M & O Railroad and he also worked as a millwright at Georgia Pacific Particle Board Plant in Louisville. Mr. McAdory was a retired cattle and tree farmer; and he was a member of Noxapater Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.
