Dorothy Christine Foster

Mrs. Dorothy Christine “Chris” Foster, 89, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at her home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 30th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Earnest Flake, Rev. Jimmy Flake, and Rev. Kenneth Hall officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Foster was born December 20, 1921, in Collinsville, AL. She was a retired LPN, and owner of Foster’s Basement. She was a member of Woodmen of the World, and Hope Apostolic Ministries Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Ray Foster; her parents, Walter Jackson Smith and Bertha Kitchens; one son, Earnest Walter “E.W” Benefield; and two great grandchildren, Tyler Benefield and Richard Lee Benefield.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Virginia Benefield ; and four grandchildren, Earnest Benefield Jr., Jackie Minger, Jane Watson, and Cathy Waldrep.

Pallbearers will be Corey Watson, Joey Hill, Kelvin Stewart, Danny Miles, Tony Minger, and Brandon Beardon.

Mr. Samuel E. Fulton, 82, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at the V A Nursing Home in Kosciusko, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 25th, at Rocky Hill United Methodist Church, with Rev. Larry Haggard and Rev. Claude Fleming officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Fulton was born March 7, 1929, in Winston County, MS. He was a farmer and a member of Rocky Hill United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Louisville High School, and attended East Central Community College, where he played football. He received a degree in agriculture from Mississippi State University, and was retired from The Army National Guard. He was on the Board of Directors for Farm Bureau, First United Bank, Bancorpsouth, and Winston County Medical Center. He was an avid fisherman and camper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peggy Garrigues and Nolen Wayne Fulton; and three brothers, William A. Fulton, Dr. Nolen Fulton, and Paul Fulton. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Byrd Fulton of Louisville; three daughters, Jean F. Pointon, M.D. of Tuscaloosa, AL, Peggy F. Cassell of Louisville, and Sammie Fulton of Louisville; and nine grandchildren, Kim Keeney, Garland Shurden, Stephanie Gleason, Jolene Gleason, Joshua Cassell, Anessa Cassell, Stephen Cassell, Samuel Pointon, and Brett Hasty.

Coach Kilpatrick, 79, of Grenada, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at his residence.
He was a native of Neshoba County and a graduate of Philadelphia High School where he played football, basketball and track. He attended Ole Miss as a freshman where he played football and basketball. He then attended East Central Community College before graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Coach Kilpatrick received a master's degree from Mississippi College.
Coach Kilpatrick spent 20 years coaching at high schools and 18 years coaching at junior colleges with a career won-lost record (as a head coach) 238-138-12 coaching at J. Z. George High School - North Carrollton, Noxubee County High School, Jackson Wingfield High School, East Mississippi Community College, Louisville High School, Northwest Community College, Hickory High School, Holmes Community College and East Central Community College.
He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada.Survivors include his wife, Versie Cumberland Kilpatrick of Grenada; daughter, Sandra Jones and husband, Tommy of Grenada; son, Andy Kilpatrick and wife, Debbie of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Patsy Kilpatrick of Batesville; granddaughters, Stephanie Kilpatrick of Batesville and Katie Lee Jones of Grenada; grandsons, Casey Jones of Grenada and J. J. Kilpatrick of Batesville; sister, Dorothy Harris and husband, Joe of Philadelphia; brothers, Aubrey Earl Kilpatrick and wife, Naomi of Philadelphia, Maurice Kilpatrick and wife, Virginia of Vicksburg, Billy Kilpatrick and wife, Nona of Philadelphia, Jimmy Kilpatrick and wife, Margaret of Cochran, GA.

Dwight Bruce Bain

Dwight Bruce Bain, 55, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at his home in Ethel. He was a store manager for Home Depot. He was born Jan. 28, 1956, in Kosciusko to Quitman Sr. and Ella Mae Burchfield Bain of Ethel. He spent his life in retail starting at Gibson’s in Kosciusko. He then spent 18 years in management for Wal-Mart and almost 15 years with Home Depot in Tupelo. At the time of his death, he was the manager in Tupelo. He was a good father, grandfather, brother, friend and co-worker who will be missed by all.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko with Doyle Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Dwight Bain and wife Jennifer and Russell Bain and fiancé Lauren Hamman of Ridgeland; one grandson Langston Bain of Jackson; his brothers Roy Bain and wife Jean of Philadelphia, Ralph Bain, David Bain and wife, Wanda of Kosciusko, Quitman Bain Jr., and wife Nadine of Kosciusko and Danny Bain and fiancé Shirley of Dadeville, Ala.; his sisters, Edna Ray Bell and husband Terrell of Louisville and Sharon Smith and husband Zane of Kempner, Texas; a sister-in-law, Patricia Bain of Kosciusko; several aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marlyn “Pete” Bain; and an infant brother, Byron Lee Bain.
Pallbearers will be Josh Leslie, Paul Clark, James Nichols, Ed Brunt, David White and Ronnie Tisdale.

He was a former truck driver for Liberty Trucking, and served in the U. S. Marine Corp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Carol Castle and John Leslie Coffey.

Sandra Fay Parker Leach, 60, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Friday, May 13, 2011 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday at First Baptist Church of Fannin with burial following in the Indian Springs Cemetery near Noxapater, MS. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sandra was born on October 9, 1950, in Hollandale, the daughter of the late Wendell and Gladys Parker.

Mr. James Boatner, 71, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at First Pentecostal Church in Raymond with interment in Hartness Cemetery in Noxapater at 4 PM Monday. Visitation is 5-8 PM Sunday at Wright and Ferguson Ridgeland and 10 AM Monday at the church.
Mr. Boatner was born in Winston County Mississippi to Kathleen Hartness and the late Harold Ambers Boatner. He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Raymond and was an employee of Durham Bus Lines for high school children. He Was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Boatner was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Elias. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Boatner of Raymond; mother, Kathleen Hartness Downing of Raymond; sons, James Joseph Boatner (Jinita) of Livingston, TX, Robert Sproles (Ann) of Pearl, MS, and Lewis Hancock (Shell) of Clinton, MS; daughters, Brigit Mewbourn of Philadelphia, MS and Phyllis Manning (Stanley) of Philadelphia MS.

Mr. Hare was born February 16, 1940. He was a member of Campground United Methodist Church, and spent his working career as a logger and a machine operator/driver. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maggie Lois and Majoe Lee Hare; a brother, Lavon Hare, and a sister, Evelyn Louise Hare. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara; his daughters, Debra Hare, Angie (Bubba) Robinson, and Tammy (Larry) Burton; six grandchildren, Sammy Robinson, Christopher Robinson, Kayla Robinson, Jessica Burton, Hunter Burton, and Hailey Burton; and two sisters, Dorothy Rodgers and Patsy Thrash. Fred Frazier, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. He was born on October 26, 1938, to Elwood Earl and Velma Smith, and was a retired boiler maker.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Katherine Smith of Noxapater, Mississippi; one daughter, Sandra Kay Brown of Lauderdale, Mississippi; three sons, James Smith and Chris Smith both of Noxapater, Mississippi, and Kenneth Smith of Wells, Minnesota; one sister, Mary Edna House of Lauderdale, Mississippi; three brothers, John David Smith, Quavis Smith, and E. T. Smith, all of Noxapater, Mississippi; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood Earl and Velma Smith; a granddaughter, Christina Kelly; one brother, James Earl Smith, and one sister, Avoy Pendleton.

Mr. Silas “S. W.” Burton, Sr., 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 12:30 until service time at Whitehall United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Whitehall United Methodist Church, with Rev. Stacy Parvin and Rev. Mike Dowd officiating. Burial will follow in Whitehall United Methodist Church Cemetery. He was born on March 18, 1930, to Aubrey and Annie Mae Burton. Mr. Burton was a retired logger and he was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Mr. Burton is survived by his wife, Mattie Burton of Louisville; two sons, Silas W. Burton, Jr. also of Louisville, and Bobby Burton of Beulah, Mississippi; two sisters, Pauline Chunn of Columbus, Mississippi, and Judy Webb of Louisville, Mississippi; one brother, Jimmie Burton of Louisville, Mississippi; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Annie Mae Burton.

Irene A. Denton

Irene A. Denton, 83, died May 6, 2011, at her residence. Services are today (Tuesday -May 10) at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Greg Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Lynn Creek Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the church. Cockrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Denton was born Feb. 20, 1928, near Brooksville, to the late Joseph Jasper and Maggie Lee Bryant Abrams. She was a lifelong resident of Noxubee County and a graduate of Brooksville High School. She worked for Cal-Jac in Macon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Denton; sister, Trudy Abrams; brothers, John Wesley and James Douglas Abrams.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Miller of Macon, and Sharon Clark of Louisville; son, Stanley Denton of Macon; sisters, Frances Bell of Macon, Lynette Morgan of Flintstone, Ga., Barbara Jean Edmondson of Louisville, and Donna Nix of Clinton; brothers, John Wesley Abrams of West Point, and Charles Milton Abrams of Steens; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Henry Horace Rhodes, 56, died Monday, May 9, 2011, in Winston County. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 12th, at Porter Funeral Home, with interment in Noxubee Hill Cemetery. Mr. Rhodes was born February 13, 1955, in Winston County. He was a graduate of Winston Academy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mae Belle Sullivan and William Tully “Bill” Rhodes; and a step-daughter, Angie Albright. He is survived by his wife, Freda Holton Rhodes of Louisville; a step-son, Lee Orr of Louisiana; a brother, Harold Gordon of Louisville; a step-granddaughter, Shelley Booth; and two nephews, Brian Gordon and Neil Gordon. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Benefield; and a son, Richard Lee Benefield. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Jerkins Benefield; his mother, Dorothy Christine Smith Foster; 3 daughters, Jackie Minger of Louisville, Jane (Leslie) Watson of Ranburne, AL, and Cathy (Ricky) Waldrep of Jemison, AL; 2 sons, Earnest Benefield Jr. of Chattanooga, TN and Kelvin Miller of Cleveland, MS; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
