Helen O’Hara Larson

Mrs. Helen O’Hara Larson, 74, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at her residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Agnew officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Perkinsville Cemetery.

Helen was born June 11, 1944, to John and Mary O’Hara Anderson in Glasgow, Scotland. She attended River of Life Pentecostal Church in Louisville and has been a resident of Winston County, Mississippi since 2006; and was a retired construction worker.

Helen is survived by her sister, Mauroon Stevens of Glasgow, Scottland; and her brother, John O’Hara of England. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Kenneth “Tank” Larson

Gaitha "Gay" L. (Ray) Stacy, age 74 passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018. —Visitation will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS and 10 AM until Service Time at 11 AM on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ackerman, MS. Fay was a 1962 graduate of Ackerman High School and was a retired bank employee.
Gay was predeceased by her parents, James Harvey and Bernice Marie (Alexander) Ray; brothers, Billy L. Ray and Dale Ray; her husband, Donald Stacy.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Stacy and sister, Patsy Ray.

Viola Miles McAdory

Viola Miles McAdory, 84, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at her residence in Noxapater, Mississippi. Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Noxapater. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the church with Rev. Gary Caudill officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Viola was born December 27, 1933, to Clint and Minnie Chunn Miles. She attended Oak Grove Baptist Church and retired from General Electric as a factory worker.

Viola is survived by her husband, Kenneth McAdory of Noxapater; and brother Ira Miles and wife Mary of Florence, Mississippi. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two daughters Cindy Jo Snow and Carol Ann McAdory; and her brother Udel Miles.

Ernest “Mike” Rosamond, 63, of Shuqualak, MS passed away on October 22, 2018 at We Care

Harvey S. Dickerson

Service for Harvey S. Dickerson will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 1 p.m. from the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS, with Rev. Dennis Robinson officiating.

Mr. Dickerson, 82, died Monday, October 22, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Meridian.

He was a native of Louisville, MS, and a resident of Neshoba County for 22 years. He retired as a Senior Chief in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Dickerson attended Vardaman Baptist Church in Kemper County.

Survivors include wife of 50 years, Violet “Dottie” Dickerson of Philadelphia; daughters, Pamela June Norris and Diane Klauck, both of Philadelphia; son, Duane Dickerson (Amy) of Ladson, S. C.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Wayren Dickerson (Wanda) of Louisville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by parents, Marshall and Lillie Mae Dickerson; sisters, Maxine Mills and Velma Mayo; and brother, John Dickerson.

Billy Suggs Barnes

Billy Suggs Barnes, age 87, of Noxapater passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018, after a lengthy
illness. A graveside service will be held at Noxapater Methodist Cemetery on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. officiated by Rev. Jeff Walton of Noxapater Methodist Church.

Billy Suggs was born on April 16, 1931, in Noxapater to Thomas Jefferson Barnes, Sr. and Lavada Della Ingram. He graduated from Noxapater High School, and then attended East Central Community College where he was a member of their football team. He then attended Mississippi State University where he earned a B.S. in animal science, a M.S. in plant breeding, and a M.S. in seed technology. He served as a medic at the close of the Korean War and was a proud United States Army Veteran. Billy Suggs worked for the MSU extension service as a US AID agricultural specialist in Guatemala, Central America, and then worked 35 years for Alexandria Seed Company in Alexandria, Louisiana, before founding his own export company toward the end of his career.

His hobbies included a deep love of United States history, particularly the period of the Civil War. He and his wife, Glenda Ree, traveled extensively throughout the Western United States. He was an avid reader of history and “Westerns”, and loved to watch college football and college baseball—especially MSU.

After retiring, he and his childhood sweetheart and wife, Glenda Ree, built their dream home on their land west of Noxapater and he indulged his love for animals. On his country “farm” he raised at various times—donkeys, horses, mules, goats, chickens, and geese.

Billy Suggs is survived by his wife of 67 years, Glenda Ree Quinn Barnes of Noxapater, Mississippi, his four children and eleven grandchildren. His children are: Jeffrey Earl Barnes (Nancy) of Houston, Texas, and their children Paul and Sean; Gary Thomas Barnes, M.D. of Noxapater, Mississippi, and his children, Corey and Delaney; Karen Barnes Gibbs (Bobby) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and their children Kelsey, Cameron, and Connor; and Julie Barnes Camacho (Carlos) of The Woodlands, Texas and their children Sabrina, Quentin, William, and Cathy. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dollie Jane Barnes Sachen, and two brothers Hamlet Webb Barnes and Thomas Jefferson Barnes, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery Earl Barnes, Gary Thomas Barnes, Bobby Gibbs, Carlos Camacho, Paul Barnes, and Cameron Gibbs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Our perfect angel daughter, Cecilia Annette Taylor was born into heaven on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, MS. James William Luke

Mr. James William “J.W.” Luke, 87, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Louisville Healthcare. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Trent Jaudon officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Luke was born August 9, 1931, in Neshoba County, MS, the son of Lillian and Wilber Luke. He was a truck driver for Jarvis Oil Co. for many years, and later drove his own truck for several companies. He was a member of South Louisville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Hazel Ricks Luke; and a sister, Audrey Nowell.

J. W. and Hazel had a long and happy marriage, but J. W. had outlived much of his family. However, he is survived by many nieces and nephews, whom he loved.

Thomas Clifton Nowell, Jr., self employed insurance agent, and member of Northside Church of Christ, passed away Monday, October 7, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center, in Tupelo, MS. He was born December 24, 1943, in Choctaw County, MS. Parents were Thomas C. Nowell, Sr. and Verna Estelle (Hopkins) Nowell.

Funeral Services for Mr. Nowell will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Huntsville Church of Christ on Hwy. 413 between French Camp, MS and Kilmichael, MS. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery.

Ethan was born on December 3, 1996, in Starkville, MS to Charlie Persons and Pam Johns. He was a former member of the Mississippi National Guard. He was currently employed by Asplundh. Ethan enjoyed hunting, building and riding 4-wheelers, and playing soccer. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Janie Persons and Peggy "Nana" Dickerson.

Ethan is survived by his wife, Alexa Junkin Persons of Columbus, MS; father, Charlie Persons of Shuqualak, MS; mother, Pam Johns of Louisville, MS; sisters, Courtney Campbell of Cullman, AL; Caitlin Mitchell of Grenada, MS; and Hannah Robinson of Louisville, MS; and his brother, Luke Nowell of Louisville, MS; grandfather, Gene Persons; nieces and nephews: Gracie and Kagen Mitchell, Melia McNatt and Ava Claire Campbell and Kelly, Brayden, Cameron and Gabby Robinson.
