Shirley Ann Hooks, 78, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Winston Medical Center Senior Services Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 8 at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Charles Rook officiating.
Shirley was born September 29, 1942, to Louie Clifton and Ruby Lee Yates. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed working around her home. Shirley was an avid motorcycle fan; she very much enjoyed riding motorcycles. She was full of life and enjoyed talking to everyone she met never meeting a stranger.
Shirley is survived by her children: Arthur G. Russey, Jr., Ann (Hugh) Hood, Lewis C. (Jessica) Russey, Dennis H. (Chrissy) Hooks, Debbie J. (Jerime) Howard, Joseph Hooks, Bill (Tina) Hooks, Dawn (Larry) Bidigare, and Diana Hooks (Steve Hall). One of her greatest joys was being “Mamaw” to her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Charlotte Moody and her brother Ralph Yates. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Joe Hooks and her parents.
Serving as pallbearers are Jody Garrard, Eric Hemphill, Bernard Mitchell, Scott Watkins, Chris White, and Jeremy Yates. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department, Duane McDaniel, Shane McDaniel, and Wayne McDaniel. Memorials in honor of Shirley may be given to Nowell-Massey Funeral Home to help defray service expenses.
