Lillia Earlene Grissom, 85, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at the Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20 at Shuqualak Cemetery in Shuqualak, Mississippi.
Earlene was born August 19, 1935, to Hardin Brooks and Lillian Lee Patterson in Noxubee County. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower beds in her yard. Earlene also wrote poems and enjoyed reading.
Earlene is survived by her children Darlene Hogue and husband Tim of Horn Lake, Mississippi, and David Grissom of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “MawMaw” to her four grandchildren: Adam Hogue, Ashley Hogue, Alex (Bronwyn) Hogue and Anna Hogue, and her great-grandson Landen Hogue. Also left to mourn her passing are her sisters: Evelyn Hailey, Dean Sciple, Ruth Anderson, and Eunice Patterson, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Mitchell Grissom, granddaughter Allison ShelĂ© Grissom, her parents, and her siblings: Helen Mayo, Horace Patterson, Harlen Patterson, and Hardin Brooks Patterson, Jr.
Serving as pallbearers are Adam Hogue, Alex Hogue, Jason Pugh, and Kevin Stanley. Gifts in memory of Earlene may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org.
