Gene Luke,44, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at his residence in Sturgis, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 6 at Pinecrest Cemetery in DeKalb, Mississippi, with Bro. Chris Gully officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi.
Gene was born July 4, 1976, to Frankie Luke and Lynn Reed Vanek in Meridian, Mississippi. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and water ski. Gene also enjoyed listening to country music, and enjoyed visiting the mountains and the beach.
Gene is survived by his loving wife Melissa Luke. He is also survived by his mother Lynn Vanek and her husband John of Biloxi, Mississippi, his father Frankie Luke and wife Sarah of Philadelphia, Mississippi, his paternal grandmother Annie Sue Baughman also of Philadelphia, his daughter Jeanne Luke and son Dalton Luke both of Enterprise, Mississippi, and his sister Lamenda Hase and husband Chris of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He also leaves behind his step-sister Jacquelyn Vanek, his step-brother Sammy Vanek, and his step-son Seth Griffin. Gene was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents John T. and Jeanne Reed and his paternal grandfather Odie Luke.
Serving as pallbearers Seth Griffin, Chris Hase, Chris Dempsey, Gavin Hase, Donnie Luke, and Dan Parkes. Memorials in honor of Gene may be given to the American Cancer Society.
