Ruth Duran

Ruth Duran, 86, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Winston Medical Center Senior Care Services in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Wells officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater.

Ruth was born October 28, 1934, to Rev. Bill and Ann Strebeck Hollingsworth. She was a member of Noxapater Baptist Church; and she was retired from Spartus Corporation. Ruth loved owls and liked to decorate with them. She also enjoyed sewing and made many beautiful items. She and Bob, “Pop,” opened their home after her retirement and cared for many children spoiling them like their own.

Ruth is survived by three sons: Ronnie Duran of Noxapater; Donny Duran and wife, Sherry, of Louisville, Mississippi; and Tim Paul and wife, Donna, of San Leon, Texas. One of her greatest joys was being “Grandma” to her seven grandchildren: Josh Duran, Jessica (Kory) Alford, Meagan (Keith) Alexander, Candace Duran, Clay (Kayla) Duran, Timothy Paul, Jr., and Cody (Elizabeth) Paul; as well as her 11 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn her passing is her sister Betty (Bobby) Ferguson of Union, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Robert “Bob” Duran, her great-granddaughter Jaden Blair, and her parents.

Serving as pallbearers will be Clay Duran, Keith Alexander, Clay Kugle, James Kugle, Mark Kugle, Wyatt Moody, and Corbin Stapleton. Gifts in memory of Ruth may be given to Mt. Carmel Cemetery Fund, c/o Noxapater Baptist Church, P.O. Box 251, Noxapater, MS 39346.
