Melisa was born February 7, 1967, to Jimmy and Peggy Wood in Louisville, Mississippi. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Melisa dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed cooking.
Melisa is survived by her children: Bracie Cooper, Deon Cooper (Destiny Holmes), Nicole Smith, and LaTonya Cooper. One of her greatest joys was being “Nana” to her grandson Bentley Cooper. She is also survived by her mother Peggy Wood, her brother Roy Wood and wife Teresa, and her aunt Mary Seely, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Melisa was preceded in death by her husband Leon Cooper, her father Jimmy Wood, her grandparents Melvin and Carrie McClelland and Willis and Pansy Wood, and her sister-by-choice Brandi Satterfield.
