Rebecca Ann Gregory Schoolar, 81, passed away October 27, 2017 in Covington, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Friday November 3, 2017 from 10 to 11 am with the celebration of life service immediately following at 11 am. Services will be held at Nowell Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, Mississippi 39339. Burial will be at Perkinsville Cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Greg Schoolar and wife Eleanor; grandson Nicholas Schoolar and wife Mandy; grandson Andy Schoolar; great-granddaughters Taylor Schoolar, Carly Schoolar and Ella Schoolar. She also leaves sisters Martha Slawson and Betty Shumaker as well as numerous other family members.
Born and raised in Louisville, Mississippi she was the daughter of John Boyd Gregory and Annie Laura Horton Gregory. She graduated from Louisville High School. She married the love of her life Ray Orr Schoolar in 1954. They moved to Mobile, Alabama where she started her career working at Berkley Small. Ray’s job took their family to Atlanta Georgia; Jackson, Mississippi; and finally Mandeville, Louisiana where she retired from a career of accounting jobs at hospitals and nursing homes.
She and Ray were blessed to build a lake house in Stone County, Mississippi where they spent many years enjoying each other, new friends, gardening, porch swinging, bird watching and feeding wild critters of all kinds.
She was a member of First Baptist Church Covington, Louisiana where she enjoyed her Bible Study class.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. Those who knew her felt nurtured as she always took care of those around her. She was a fantastic cook and always had your favorites waiting when you came to her house.
