Mr. David Louis Covington, 76, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 8th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Wayne Hill officiating. Private family interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until the service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Covington was born January 17, 1940, in Winston County, MS. He was a truck driver for 55 years, and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellene Kilpatrick Covington and William Roper Covington; and one brother, Paul Covington.
He is survived by his children, Tonya (Chris) Stevenson, Mark (Stephanie) Covington, Sonya Smith, and Rene (Aubrey) Cox; and 8 grandchildren, Sadie Stevenson, Rivers Stevenson, Blake Covington, Kayla Covington, Tanner Covington, Jade Smith, Brandon Estes, and Jared Estes.
Pallbearers are Garvin Whitten, Joe Cooper, Bobby Joe Gregory, Willie Ray McDonald, Raymond Earl Reed, Vance Eaves, Millard DePriest, Gene McClure, and Lamar Allan.
Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church Youth and Children Fund.
