Michael Loyd Shurden passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS. Mr. Shurden was born November 24, 1955, in Maben, MS, to Oscar Loyd and Dorothy Jean(Fulgham) Shurden. He was 66 years old. Mr. Shurden was employed approximately 40 years with Babcock-Wilcox as a welder. He was an active member of Blythe Creek Baptist Church in Mathiston, MS, where he served faithfully as Sunday School Director.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, 12:00 noon at Blythe Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Todd Chesser officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. till service time at the church. Pallbearers are Shane Grantham, John Grantham, John Randall Shurden, Clayton Dodd, Michael Box, and Kendale Durham. Honorary pallbearer is Keith Williams. The family requests that those attending be cautious in avoiding the spread of Covid. Masks are not required, but highly recommended so as to prevent the spread to elderly attendees and those with compromised immune systems.
Mr. Shurden is survived by his wife, Cindy(Grantham) Shurden of Mathiston, MS; his parents, Oscar Loyd and Dorothy Jean Shurden of Mathiston, MS; 1 son, Michael(Paige) Shurden of Mathison, MS; 1 daughter, Brandi(Joey) Fiebig of Mathiston, MS; 1 brother, Randy(Melonie) Shurden of Byram, MS; 1 sister, Sandra(Jimmy Dale) Williams of Mathiston, MS; 5 grandchildren, Mary Grace Fiebig, Mia Clair Shurden, Aaron Fiebig, William Kade Shurden, and Karter Rhett Shurden. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shurden was preceded in death by his grandparents and 1 grandchild.
