Betty Lou Pittman Holder, age 82, passed away on February 12, 2022, at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 19 at 12 p.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be the day of the service from 11 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home. A private family interment will immediately follow the service at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
Betty was born March 5, 1939, to Willie Clyde “Bill” and Edna Mae Belk Pittman in Rome, Georgia. She worked as a waitress and enjoyed working in landscaping. Betty also was a caregiver for her disabled son who was born with health challenges.
Betty is survived by her five children: Lynette (Johnny) Bunch, David (Debbie) Ross, and Kirk Holder all of Rome, Georgia; Barbara (Danny) Green of Cummings, Georgia; and Van Holder of the Nanih Waiya Community. One of her greatest joys was being “Granny” to her 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John Van “J. V.” Holder, her parents, and two sisters Loretta Freeman and Dean Pruitt.
