Gladney Luvell Worrell, 89, of Weir, MS, went home to his Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. Gladney loved the Lord, his family, friends, and Choctaw County. He had many jobs during his life. He worked in a service station, loaded groceries, delivered milk, drove a propane truck, but mostly, he was a carpenter and farmer. He taught Sunday School for almost 70 years, loved music, and served as Vice-President and President of the Choctaw County Singing Convention. Gladney was an elder at Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church. His prayer for his family was Isaiah 61:8-9, "In my faithfulness I will reward my people and make an everlasting covenant with them. Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the people. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed."
Gladney is survived by his wife, Vera Tennyson Worrell, his sons, Eugene(Bettye) and Kevin(Barbara); his grandchildren, Jennifer(Nathan) Easterwood, Joshua(Miranda) Worrell, Sara Worrell, Jonathan(Cheryl) Worrell, and Nathaniel(Lauren) Worrell; his great-grandchildren, Mason and Emily Easterwood, Rivers, Rylan, and Ramsey Worrell, Noah and Samuel Worrell. He is also survived by his sister Jimmie Sue Upchurch and his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stranburg and Mazie Worrell, and his sister, Faye Worrell.
Outside services will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m., with an outside visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of arrangements. Rev. Jerry Lawson, Eugene Worrell, and Jonathan Worrell will conduct the services. Pallbearers will be Joshua Worrell, Jonathan Worrell, Nathaniel Worrell, Nathan Easterwood, Mason Easterwood, and Adam Boggan.
