Ronald G. McGahey (also known as “Big Mac”), 51, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Winston Medical Center Hospital in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Friday, September 16, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Kelsey officiating and Dale Pulliam assisting. Interment will follow in New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 15 years, Laryssa McGahey of Louisville; six daughters, Marsha Reed; Cassidy Coker; Samantha McGahey; Leslie McGahey; Lauren Devine and husband, Dustin; and Mia McGahey; two sons, Anthony Reed and Matthew Wright; as well as the mother of his oldest children, Karen Baczkowski. One of his greatest joys was being “Papa” to his six grandchildren: Billy Joe Courtney, Kaydn Courtney, John Wyatt Pierce, Ronald Jaxon Pierce, Ethan Devine, and Grayson Coker. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Nina Estelle Pierce.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Hagood, David Hancock, Alan Holder, John Hill, Paul Pearson, and Mike Pickett. Honorary pallbearers are Dustin Devine, Anthony Reed, and Matthew Wright.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in honor of “Big Mac” be given to Nowell Massey Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
