Mr. Bowman was a welder by trade and rebuilt heavy equipment. He was most recently employed at Sturgis Mat in Sturgis, MS as a Scale Operator.
Mr. Bowman was a member of Ackerman Baptist Church. He was also a York Rite Mason and Shriner. His life was centered on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their many activities and accomplishments. One of his most enjoyable endeavors was the time he spent actively participating in the development and maintenance of the softball program at Hebron Christian School. Mr. Bowman enjoyed traveling over the years.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his lifelong love, Peggy (Pinnix) Bowman, children, Don Jr. (Jackie) of Grenada, Rita Seawright (Tommy) of Starkville, and Beverly Woods (Barry) of Meridian; seven grandchildren (who call him Granddaddy): Heather Seawright Groover, Haleigh Fason (Caleb), Brian Bowman (Jennifer), Sydney Culpepper (Caleb), Brent Bowman (Tori), Jessi Upchurch (Cody), and Eli Cagle; and nine great-grandchildren: Dylan Seawright, Lexie Upchurch, Caleigh and Rileigh Fason, Charlie Brooke and Jack Bowman, Eden, Harleigh, and Willow Culpepper. He is also survived by four siblings: George Bowman (Carolyn), Jeanette Whitehead (Jim), Jack Bowman (Etoyle), Glen Bowman and sister-in-law, Joyce Bowman. He is also survived by an honorary daughter and caregiver, Angel S. Harbin (Terry) and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bowman is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Bowman, a brother Billy Bowman, and a niece, Tonya Bowman.
Funeral Services for Mr. Bowman were held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 1PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Interment followed in Clear Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Oktibbeha County. Visitation was held two hours prior to the service on Saturday at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of all arrangements.
Pallbearers for the service were Mr. Bowman's nephews; Dan Bowman, Rainey Bowman, Tommy Bowman, Rusty Bowman, Rodney Bowman, Jamie Whitehead, and PaulBowman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorials be made to the Shriner's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
