Raymond Price was born on February 8, 1937 in National City, CA and died on April 7, 2016 at his home in Carson City, NV. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in National City, California in 1955. He was a retired Prison Chaplain having ministered at the Winston Choctaw Correctional Facility in Louisville, MS. Formerly he was President of Generative Systems, a computer software company. In 2014 a tornado destroyed his home, and he relocated to Carson City, NV.
Ray was a member of The Gideons International and later was licensed and ordained as a Southern Baptist Minister in Mississippi.
He loved Nascar and co-owned with his son, Tom, cars that raced at Tahoe-Carson Speedway and Nascar’s Southwest Tour.
He leaves behind his wife Polly Metts Price; sons Guy W. Price (Jody) and Ray Steven Price (Eleanor) all of San Diego, California; Thomas H. Price (Rhonda), Kirsten Strange (Jim), and Audra Blackwell (Erik), all of Carson City, Nevada; a brother, Harry L. Price (Roylin) of Odessa, Washington; and a sister, Carol Heckman (John) of Shell Rock, Iowa.. He was very proud of his nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; He is remembered with affection from numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Neoma Price of Shell Rock, IA and Fred Strohauer of San Bernardino, CA; a half-sister Nadine McMullen of San Diego, CA; nephew Bradley Beem of Shell Rock, IA; grandson Cameron Blackwell of Carson City, NV.
Memorial service is to be held at 4:00 pm on April 30, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Carson City, NV.
A graveside service will be held in late May at Evergreen Baptist Church in Louisville, MS.
