Elmer “Sonny” Lowrey, 76, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Murphy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Lowrey is survived by his three sisters: Willie Mae Bankson, of Jackson, Mississippi; Dot Crowson and husband, Joe, of Louisville, Mississippi; and Janie Pullen and husband, Clyde, also of Jackson, Mississippi. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law; Hilda Lowrey, also of Louisville, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kathryn Lovelace Lowrey; two brothers, James Earl Lowrey and Aaron Olyn Lowrey; and his sister, Kathlyn June Adams Holst.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Crowson, Paul Crowson, Murray Lowrey, Dr. Keith Robbins, Richard Grindstaff, Chad Grindstaff and Frankie Joe Crowson.
