Iris Price, 83, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Noxapater Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chance May officiating.
She is survived by her son, James Henry Price of Dallas, Texas, and a sister, Ava Meyer of St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. “Jim” Price and her parents, Henry and Ruth Wood Clark.
Mrs. Price graduated from East Central Junior College and from Mississippi Sate College for Women. She was a professor at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. She met her husband, James C. Price, while teaching at the University of Alabama. After their marriage, they moved to Pitsfield, Massachusetts, and then to Houston, Texas, before retiring and moving to Noxapater, Mississippi.
She loved sewing, needlepoint, and other craft work, but also was passionate about flower gardening and landscaping. She was also an avid reader, and was a frequent patron of the Winston County Library.
