Rowena Luke Goodin,

Mrs. Augusta Rowena Goodin, 96, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Atwood Personal Care Home in Philadelphia, MS. Funeral services were held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 29th, at Harmony Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Lundy officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Harmony Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

 Rowena was born August 18, 1928, to Virgil and Eva Davis Luke. After high school, she earned her Associate degree in Food Service, and worked with the school systems for many years. She was a longtime member of Harmony Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 50 years. She was a book author, having written a commentary on the Gospels. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Rowena was a wonderful person and words to describe her would be peace and joy. 

  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Riley Goodin; her parents; a brother, Bobby Luke; and a sister, Jo Lynn Barfoot. 

 She is survived by a son, Ronnie (Kathleen) Goodin of Orlando, FL and two grandchildren, Abigail Tran, and Kate Goodin.
