Iva Mae Jennings Yarbrough

Iva Mae Jennings Yarbrough, 87, of Louisville, MS, passed away while being continuously surrounded by her loving family on August 31, 2024. She was born on September 7, 1936, in Attala County, MS, to William Vester and Maggie Curtis Jennings.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. James M. Yarbrough, her parents, three brothers, William Haywood Jennings, Kermit Clifton "Tensie" Jennings, Clint Jennings, and two sisters, Jewel Earl Sanders, and Charlotte Faye McFarland.

Mae had no greater joy than to know that her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren are walking in the truth as children of God. She was a loving mother to a son, Perry (Barbara) Yarbrough of Louisville; three daughters, Jan (Larry) Addkison of Louisville, Pam (Derick) Metts of Starkville, and Penny (Evan) Llewelyn of Louisville; and a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren, Molly (Will) Taylor, Andrew (Meagan) Addkison, Chris (Amanda) Robinson, Jessica (Chad) Phillips, Caleb Metts, Landis (Josiah) Ledford, and Evan James Llewelyn; and loving great- grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren, Maeley Taylor, Maggie Taylor, Connor Robinson, Emma Robinson, Lawson Robinson, Avalynn Robinson, Allie Phillips, Aubrey Phillips, Grayson Phillips, Hattie Metts, Will Metts, Anne Baker Metts and Sara Jean Metts, and eagerly anticipating the arrival of her fourteenth, Baby Ledford.

A woman of deep faith, Mae was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church whose members held a special place in her heart. Her unwavering belief in God was evident in every aspect of her life. With a servant heart, for near three decades she brought joy to the many residents at Tri-County Nursing Home in the role of Activities Director. Going beyond that role, she ensured all residents were filled with joy and happiness. She will be remembered for her strength, beautiful hair, warm and welcoming smile, fun-loving spirit, compassionate heart, and her all-encompassing love for her family. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

Serving as Pallbearers are Caleb Metts, Andrew Addkison, Chris Robinson, Evan James Llewelyn, Connor Robinson, Chad Phillips, Will Taylor and Josiah Ledford.

A celebration of Mae's life will be held at Porter Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 2nd at 3:00 P.M., with Rev. Junior Davis and Rev. Jonathan Peeples officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gum Branch Baptist Church in her memory.
