J. L. was born on November 24, 1952, to Louis and Georgie Bateman Alexander in Winston County, Mississippi. He attended Dry Creek Baptist Church. J. L. worked as a machinist at Taylor Machine Works for more than 30 years. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. J. L. was an avid sports fan; he especially loved the Ole Miss Rebels and the Nanih Waiya Warriors. He answered the call of his country by serving in the National Guard.
J. L. is survived by his sister Rita Hood and husband Bobby of Brooksville, Mississippi, and his brother Larry Alexander and wife Linda of Louisville. He also leaves behind two nephews Keith (Megan) Alexander and Steve Chambliss, his nieces Brandi (Brian) Waddell, Angela Chambliss, Cynthia (Joey) Hood, and Renee (Dr. Gene) Cathey as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews whom he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew David Clifton “Cliff” Chambliss.
Serving as pallbearers are Keith Alexander, Kenny Ballard, Steve Chambliss, Wayne Green, Joey Hood, Luke Parkes, Danny Price, and Keith Reel. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Hill, Willie Earl Miles, Lamar Parkes, and Jerry Whitehead. Memorials in honor of J.
