James Thomas (J. T.) Perry went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 27, 2022, in his home in Ackerman, Mississippi, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 15, 1925, to John and Sallie Hodges Perry. He is affectionately remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a skilled carpenter and worked for many years in the construction business. He was a veteran of World War II. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, deer hunting, and raising dogs for deer hunting.
J. T. was preceded in death by his wife, of 54 years Imogene Dodd Perry. In addition to his parents, J.T. was also preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Perry Goza, his sisters, Laurie Perry Fulce and Maurine Perry Burkes Patterson, and his brother, Hayward Perry.
J. T. was a member of Chester Baptist Church where he served the Lord faithfully as a deacon, Sunday School director and teacher, and in many other roles as long as he was physically able.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Chester Baptist Church in Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Chester Baptist Church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, prior to the service. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Chester, Mississippi.
Pallbearers are Ralph Skinner, Mancel Fulce, Bob Burkes, Jimmy Burkes, Mike Pearson, and Sammy Dean. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of all arrangements.
