Mildred Young Calvert

Mrs. Mildred Calvert, 93, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, at her home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, June 1st, at Porter Funeral Home, with Dr. Heath Hillman and Rev. Mark Mayo officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:30 P.M. until service time. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Mildred was born in Neshoba County where she worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. D.P. Jordan until she married Jim Calvert. They resided in Louisville, MS, and she was a wonderful homemaker. To know Mildred was to know a person who loved God unconditionally. She was a person of great faith, a prayer warrior, a wonderful friend and Mother not only to her two children, but to many. Her home was a welcoming haven to anyone. Her doors and heart were always open.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Calvert; her parents, Mary Elizabeth and James Monroe Young; two sisters, Mary Bane and Maurine Morgan; and three brothers, Simon T. Young, Fulton Young, and J. M. Young.

Mildred is survived by her children, Kim and Jeff McMinn, and David and Jennifer Calvert; her grandchildren, Landon and AJ McMinn, Peyton and David McAdory, Gavin Calvert, and Blake and Brittany McMinn; her great grandchildren, Swayze, Eliza, Kate, Aidan, and Axel McMinn; her nieces, Jan (Jim) Lemcke, Judy (Jerry) Carver, Patty (Dereck) Pace, Kaye (Darwin) Jorden, Lisa (Robert) Hunter and Donna Means; her nephews, Mike Calvert, Speedy (Jamie) Calvert, Thomas Young, Richard (Allison) Young, Barry Young, Joe (Linda) Christian, Fulton (Patricia) Young, Sidney (Deanie) Young, and numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Blake McMinn, Landon McMinn, David McAdory, Brian Pace, Brian Brumfield, and John Wright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Lemcke, Fulton Young, Speedy Calvert, Joe Christian, Kevin Price, Steve Quinn, Bob Hudson, Joe Jordan, and Sidney Sloan.

Memorials in Mildred’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
