Matthew Dunbar Eaves, 45, passed away on May 17, 2021 at Ochsners’ Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana from a massive stroke and heart attack. Visitation will be at 3:00 o’clock Sunday, May 23 at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 o’clock at Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, MS with the Reverend Tommy Shields and Chaplain Jeff Pate officiating.
Matthew Dunbar Eaves was born on May 27, 1975 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia to Ronnie Eaves and Judy Gordon Eaves Harper. He developed a love for reading from his early education at Grace Christian School in Louisville where he attended from kindergarten through the fourth grade. His high school years were spent at Florence High School in Florence, MS where he participated in football, baseball and track. After graduation Matt attended Hinds Community College.
For much of his adult years Matt lived in New Orleans, Louisiana and most recently was employed by Crescent City Security and Consulting LLC. His primary responsibilities included providing security for movie and tv sets like NCIS New Orleans.
Matt attended Canal Street Church in New Orleans. He loved New Orleans, especially close relationships with dear friends including those he knew through Community Group activities.
Matt is survived by his son Landon Eaves, Diana, Tx. He is also survived by his father Ronnie and Lou Eaves, Hattiesburg, MS. His mother Judy Harper, Ridgeland, MS. Matt’s siblings: Gordon and Dr. Christine Barringer Eaves and niece Grace, Bella Vista, Arkansas; Jason and Kelly Eaves and nephew Jadon, Hattiesburg, MS; his sister Andra’s children Justin Burham, Philadelphia,MS and Michael Burnham , Louisville MS.
Matt is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Randolph and Zellene Eaves; His maternal grandparents Hugh and Mamie Gordon; and his sister Casandra “Andra” Mechelle Eaves.
