Dorothy “Dot” Hare Rodgers, 89, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2021, at Plattsburg Cemetery with Bro. Dwight Fleming and Bro. Trent Jaudon officiating.
Dot was born April 16, 1932, to Major and Maggie Lois Thrasher Hare in Louisville. She was a member of Plattsburg Baptist Church of Noxapater. Dot was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed sewing and quilting. She loved working in her yard and her flowers; with her “green thumb” she could plant any flower or tree and it flourished. Dot also enjoyed keeping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Dot is survived by her children: Virgil Rodgers and wife Sharon of Louisville, Dianne Hatcher and husband David of Philadelphia, Mississippi, and Sherry Suttle and husband Rusty of Noxapater. One of her greatest joys was being “Meme” to her eight grandchildren: Jenni (Bruce) Lee, Leigh Ann (William) White, Justin (Melanie) Rodgers, Josh (Natalie) Hatcher, Becky (Russell) Hamilton, Lindsey (Charlie Mac) Joiner, Missy (Brandon) Sherwood, and Paul David (Ashley) Hatcher; as well as her 21 great-grandchildren. Dot is also survived by her sister Patsy Thrash and two sisters-in-law Barbara Hare and Nora Hare. She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Winston Rodgers, a baby girl Gwendolyn Rodgers, two brothers Lavon and Harold Hare, and two great-grandchildren Lexi Sherwood and Brantley Lee.
Serving as pallbearers are Josh Hatcher, Paul David Hatcher, Justin Rodgers, Russell Hamilton, Charlie Mac Joiner, Bruce Lee, Brandon Sherwood, and William White.
