Lora Lee Holland

Mrs. Lora Lee Holland, 102, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. A funeral service is planned for Monday, May 10, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Macon, MS with Dr. Jeff Holland and Bro. Bill Ross officiating her Celebration of Life. Interment will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 105 Dent St., Macon, MS 39341.
 
Lora was born in Calhoun City, MS on August 4, 1918. She graduated from Calhoun City school where she was an outstanding basketball player. She attended East Mississippi Junior College but soon left to marry her beloved H. O. Holland. She worked at various jobs throughout her adult life and retired in 1982 from Junior Food Mart in Macon. She lived in Louisville, MS until 1970 when they moved to Macon, Mississippi. She resided in Macon until 2018 when she moved to Winston County Medical Center Nursing Home, Louisville and lived until her death. She worshipped and served at Calvary Baptist Church while in Macon. One of her favorite ministries at Calvary was a greeting card service. She mailed thousands of cards to friends and fellow church members to encourage and uplift them. She loved to sing, had a beautiful alto voice and was a dedicated choir member at Calvary. She and Mr. Holland prepared the Lord’s Supper for years. She was a loving Jesus follower and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Lora is preceded in death by her parents; George and Estelle Lee; by her husband of over 57 years, H.O. Holland, Sr; and by four of her siblings: Marie Goforth of Memphis, TN; Lillian Thomas of Water Valley, MS; Helen White of West Point, MS; and Wanda Harrelson of Memphis, TN.

Mrs. Holland is survived by two sons: H.O. (Linda) Holland of Pascagoula, MS, and Kenny (Linda) Holland of Eupora, MS; one sister: Nellie Yelverton of Memphis, TN; one brother: G.C. Lee, Jr. of Hendersonville, TN. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jeff, Kevin, Ken, and Robin Holland, Tracey Lajoie, (Jim), and by eight great grandchildren-Connor, Cade, Cassidy, Jackson, Hayes, Ethan, Alyssa Holland, and Evan Lajoie.
