Calista Nesbit Pitt

Calista Nesbit Pitt, 75, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29 at First Apostolic Church of Louisville with Rev. Glynn Barker officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Memorial Cemetery in Louisville.

Calista was born July 16, 1945, to Floyd Ross and Emma Katherine Griffis Nesbit in Durant, Mississippi. She was a member of First Apostolic Church of Louisville. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center graduating with a degree in nursing. For approximately 40 years, she served her community as a nurse at the Winston County Nursing Home. Calista enjoyed crocheting and each grandchild has a blanket made by her loving hands as well as other treasures she made. She was faithful to read and study her Bible daily. Calista also enjoyed cooking for her family for she dearly treasured her family. She loved people and could always find something to laugh about.

Calista is survived by her children: Chelly Phillips and husband James, William “Nes” Pitt, and Christopher “Chris” Pitt all of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “MawMaw” to her 13 grandchildren: KaDee Snow, Johnie Snow, Jordan Hailey, Will Pitt, Colby Pitt, Brooklyn Pitt, Kayla Pitt, Gunner Pitt, Cooper Pitt, Jacob Pitt, McKenzie Pitt, Stella Williamson, and Cali Pitt. Additionally, she had seven great-grandchildren: Braxton Miller, Madden Snow, Logan Rhodes, Ryder Wyatt, Collin Snow, Emma June Hailey, and Bentley Jax Hailey. She is also survived by her brother Ross (Kathy) Nesbit of Sartartia, Mississippi, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Calista was preceded in death by her daughter Holly M. Pitt, her parents, her brother Johnnie Nesbit, and her sister-in-law Donna Nesbit Williams.

Serving as pallbearers are Jordan Hailey, Will Pitt, Colby Pitt, Braxton Miller, Gunner Pitt, and Taylor Warren. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Phillips, Madden Snow, Logan Rhodes, Zac Nesbit, and Griff Nesbit.
