Sheila Belle Hartness Gomillion, age 57, passed away on November 24, 2014. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 pm, November 25, at Parkway Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday November 26, 2014 at 10:00 am at Madison United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Noxapater United Methodist Church Cemetery at 2:00pm.
Sheila was born and raised in Noxapater, MS. She was an active socialite, who played basketball, was a member of the track team, and the cheer captain. After graduating Salutatorian from Noxapater High School, she continued her education at East Central Community College (where she met her future husband, Ron Gomillion) and graduated from Mississippi State University (Go Dawgs!), and later earned an MBA from Mississippi College. Sheila battled Hodgkin's disease in September of 1978. She always joked that Ron Gomillion proposed because he thought she was going to die. They married on June 16, 1979 and she overcame the cancer.
Sheila had two children, Nicholas and Angela. She was a devoted mother who instilled her strength and Southern charm into her babies. Sheila was a pastor's wife, a hard-worker, a loving Matriarch, and a perfect "Gigi" to her six "grand-angels" who were her pride and joy. She will always be remembered for her beautiful spirit and smile.
Sheila was preceded in death by her father, J.B. Hartness, and mother, Mamie Hartness. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Gomillion; son, Nicholas Gomillion; daughter, Angela Beard McWilliams; son-in-law, Cain McWilliams; daughter-in-law, Jessi Gomillion; "grand-angels", Madelyn, Isabella, Sophie, Malley Belle, and soon-to-be born Gomillion Twins. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Hartness; sisters-in-law, Diane Hartness and Lynne Freeny; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
