Ricky Benford Sloan, 60, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at his residence in Evans, Georgia. Funeral rites will be conducted by Father Lenin Vargas at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stacy Parvin Fuller officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 1 p.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home.
Ricky was born on March 30, 1954, to Robert and Dorothy Edwards Sloan. He served in the United States Army for 10 years, served in numerous postings with his wife in the United States and abroad, and was most recently employed as Director of Sales for Riverwatch Brewing in Augusta, Georgia.
Ricky is survived by his wife of 26 years, Colonel (Retired) Brey Ruddle Sloan; his daughter, Anne Sloan; and his son, James Sloan, all of Evans, Georgia, and Glenn Sloan. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Edwards Sloan; his sister, Kaye Sloan Gilmore, both of Louisville; and two brothers, Robert “Bob” Sloan and wife, Sandra, of Cullman, Alabama; and Jimmy Ray Sloan and wife, Denise, of Sturgis, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee “Bob” Sloan.
