Mrs. Mary Ann Wood, 83, died Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, MS.
Ann was born December 8, 1930, in Alexander City, Alabama, to Curtis and Ruth Willis. She graduated from the University of Alabama and attended graduate school at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University). She worked as a technical librarian at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala. After moving to Louisville, she worked at the Winston County Journal and won a first place award from the Mississippi Press Association for Best Personal Column. She later worked for the Winston County Board of Supervisors as County Administrator. She served on the Board of Trustees for East Central Community College, and was a member of the Golden Triangle Planning and Development Agency Advisory Committee and Executive Committee. She is survived by her husband, James T. Wood of Louisville; two sons, James T. (Renee) Wood, Jr. of Destin, FL, and Scott Wood of San Francisco, CA; one granddaughter, Megan Wood of Destin, FL; and a favorite cousin, Ruth Meacham Burgess of Brandon, MS.
A memorial service for Ann will be held at a later date.
