Bryant Bronell Bradford, Sr.


Mr. Bryant Bronell Bradford, Sr., 91, went home to be with his Lord on Monday morning, February 6, 2012, in Oxford, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 8th, at Porter Funeral Home, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to the service at Porter Funeral Home.
Mr. Bradford was born October 30, 1920, in Laurel, MS. He was the son of John H. and Mazie Bradford and a graduate of John F. Gardiner High School in Laurel, Mississippi. After graduation, Mr. Bradford married Inez Woodruff Bradford of Hattiesburg, MS. Mr. Bradford then joined the Navy and was an engineer with the famed Seabees and fought in the Pacific Theater for four years during World War II. After the war, Mr. Bradford graduated from Jones County Community College and returned to Louisville, where he opened a watch repair shop and jewelry store. He owned several businesses, including Bradford’s Jewelry for over 42 years, as well as the Dixie CafĂ©. Mr. Bradford was also a 33 degree Mason, a member of the Bevill Hill Methodist Church, Louisville Chamber of Commerce, and a leader in the community for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mazie and John Bradford, three wives, Inez Woodruff Bradford, Katherine Jones Bradford, and Annie Beth Crowson Bradford; a sister, Lorena McFarland; and a brother, Curtis Bradford.
He is survived by five children, Bryant B. Bradford, Jr., and wife, Ann of Baton Rouge, LA; Barbara Bradford-DeLoach of Albuquerque, NM; Judy Bradford Tranum, and husband, Paul, of Starkville, MS; Ann Crowson Moody, and husband, Bobby, of Louisville; and Bobby Crowson of Atlanta, GA; ten grandchildren, Denise Bradford-Vaughn, Trey Bradford, and wife, Ann Marie, Stacey Betz, and husband, Chris, London DeLoach, Conner DeLoach, Patrick Tranum, and wife, Glenda, Brian Tranum, and wife, Candy, P. J. Tranum, Jr., and wife, Brittany, Robert Moody, Jr., Robin Fulton, and husband, Buddy; and great grandchildren, Danielle and Kyle Betz; Caroline, Claudie, and William Bradford; Joshua Vaughn; Jeffrey, Jason, and David DeLoach; and Jessica, Tyler, Hunter, and Walker Tranum.
