Ronald M. McGahey

Ronald McGahey, 81, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2 at New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery with Bro. Dewayne Kelsey officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville.

Ronald was born September 30, 1939, to Woodrow and Constance Jones McGahey in Louisville, Mississippi. He was retired from Mississippi State University where he worked as a mechanic supervisor at the Physical Plant. Ronald also drove a truck for several local companies. He enjoyed race cars and actively participated in races for several years. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Navy for four years.

One of his greatest joys was being “Granddaddy” to his six grandchildren: Samantha McGahey, Leslie McGahey, Lauren (Dustin) Devine, Mia McGahey, Marsha Reed, and Anthony Reed. Ronald also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: John Wyatt Pierce, Ronald Jaxon Pierce, Ethan Devine, and Ronald Gene McGahey-Blaine. He is also survived by his brother Paul McGahey and wife Carolyn of Philadelphia, Mississippi. Ronald was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Hancock McGahey, his son Ronald McGahey, his great-granddaughter Nina Estelle Pierce, and his brother John Earl McGahey.

Serving as pallbearers are Jonathan Blaine, Dustin Devine, Dylan Dunn, and Anthony Reed.

Angie Tullos

Services for Angie Tullos will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Darnis Selvanayakam, Father Augustine Palimattam, and Rev. Richie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia. Visitation will be held Friday, October 30, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.

Mrs. Tullos, 60, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at her home.

Angie was a native and lifelong resident of Philadelphia, MS, and a graduate of Neshoba Central High School. She was employed as counselor’s secretary at Neshoba Central Middle School. Mrs. Tullos was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Survivors include husband, Joe Tullos; children, Byron Tullos (Mandy) and Nikki Morrow (Cody), all of Philadelphia; stepdaughter, Mandy Hailey (Malcolm) of Nanih Waiya; grandchildren, Mady Quinn Morrow, Margaret Morrow, and Stephen Tullos; parents, Gerald and Margaret Crenshaw of Philadelphia; brothers, Johnny Crenshaw (Denise) and Chad “Cotton” Crenshaw (Marion), all of Philadelphia.

Pallbearers are Caleb Crenshaw, Matt Marshall, Wesley Spears, Mark Pankratz, Lee Phillips, Aaron Phillips, Brock Phillips, Gus Tullos, T. J. Tullos and Jonathan Clark.

Arletta Joy Dotson

Arletta Joy Dotson, 89, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Louisville Healthcare in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 30 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Trent Jaudon officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 1 p.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery.

Arletta was born July 25, 1931, to Joseph and Evelyn Bray Jordan in Huntington, Tennessee. She was a member of South Louisville Baptist Church. Arletta was an avid reader and liked to cross stitch. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them as well as drinking coffee with her best friend, Ruth.

Arletta is survived by her loving daughter Beth Edmonds and husband Daryl of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Grandmamma” to her three granddaughters: Rachel Edmonds (Michael) Womack, Laura Beth (Kenny Joe) Fulton, and Megan Wray Simpson. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Dotson, her daughter Cindy Dotson Wray, her son Ken Dotson, her parents, and three sisters: Waunetha Hunter, Jane Massey, and Fay Lowe.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Womack, Chris Blackwell, Caleb Brown, Gary Brown, David Dodson, and Cole Harrison. Memorials in honor of Arletta may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P. O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.

Don Richmond

Don A. Richmond, 85, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27 with Rev. P. J. Littrell officiating at New Hope Cemetery in Walnut Grove, Mississippi. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville.

Don was born February 6, 1935, to Ulysses and Julia Savage Richmond in Leake County, Mississippi. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Walnut Grove, Mississippi. He enjoyed attending the Neshoba County Fair where for many years he owned a cabin. Don also loved to ride motorcycles and he collected and enjoyed working on antique cars. He also enjoyed dancing and working in his vegetable garden.

Don is survived by his wife Joy Richmond of Louisville. He is also survived by five step-children: Billie Littrell Ward of Collins, Mississippi, Paul Littrell, Mark Littrell, and Stacey Littrell all of Louisville, and Penny Riser and husband Robin of Purvis, Mississippi. Don also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Don Richmond, II, his parents, and his siblings: Wanda Burns, James Barnett, and Doris Ellis.

Danny “Dan-Dan” Sciple

Memorial services for Danny “Dan-Dan” Sciple will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 4:00 P.M. from his mother’s home with Bro. Richard Burks officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sciple was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County and was a graduate of Neshoba Central High School Class of 1985. He worked as a supervisor constructing water slides for the past several years. Mr. Sciple was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He loved watching his baby chicks, guineas, and quails hatch and grow. He was an all around outdoorsman and loved his trips down the Pearl River with his friends.

Mr. Sciple is survived by his mother, Lois Ryals Ford of Philadelphia; sweetheart, Peggy Thomas of Louisville; sisters, Brigit Mewbourn, Phyllis Manning (Stanley) and April Dawn Sciple; brothers, Doug “Bubba” Sciple (Marianna) and Damon Sciple, all of Philadelphia; daughter, Skyllar Paige Sciple of Jacksonville, FL; son, Daniel Marion Sciple (Dakota) of Philadelphia; one grandchild, Beatrice Sciple; and a host nieces and nephews.

 

William R. “Bill” McCune, III

William R. "Bill" McCune passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020, at his residence, in Ackerman, MS. He was born September 20, 1959, in West Virginia, to William Ray II and Shirley(Samples) McCune, II. He was 61 years old.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020, at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS, with Rev. Jerry Lawson officiating. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McCune is survived by his wife, Chasity(Green) McCune; sons, Steven Green, William Ray McCune, IV; daughters, Christia McCune, Destiny McCune, and Beth McCune; brother, Mike McCune; sisters, Rebecca Jo McCune, Carolyn Sue Murray, and Renee Jo Watts; 5 grandchildren, Russell May, Calvin Plant, Jr., Sierra Plant, Ty-Rhythm Nunez, and Damien Cardona.

Patricia Ann Ward

Patricia Ann Ward, 77, passed away on October 21, 2020, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 23 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Garner officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Memorial Cemetery.

Ann was born October 7, 1943, to Vernon and Eva Parker Yarbrough in Winston County, Mississippi. She was a member of Wess Chapel Baptist Church. Ann enjoyed painting, fishing, and working in her flowers. She always had a bountiful vegetable garden from which she enjoyed canning and preserving the vegetables that she grew. Ann loved to cook meals for her family. She also had a love for animals of any kind…raising various types from coons to peacocks. Ann loved jewelry, and she enjoyed needlepoint such as cross stitching, crocheting.

Ann is survived by her husband of almost 55 years A. J. “J. J.” Ward of Louisville. She is also survived by her three sons: Tim Clark and wife Joann, Mike “Duge” Ward and wife Amy all of Louisville, and Shane Ward and wife Paola of Houston, Texas. One of her greatest joys was being “Nan” to her four grandchildren: A. J. Clark, McKayla Ward, Jacob Ward, and Noah Ward. Ann also leaves behind her eight siblings: Freddy Yarbrough, John Yarbrough, Vonne Clark, Mae Hemphill, Harold Yarbrough, Dewayne Ray, Algie McCullough, and Pearl Daniel as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Richard Yarbrough, Thaddeus Yarbrough, Rita Dollarhide, Haze Long, and James Yarbrough.

Serving as pallbearers are Fred Childs, A. J. Clark, Chase Fuller, Keith Matzek, Nick Reed, and Jacob Ward. Memorials in honor of Ann may be given to the Breast Cancer Association.

William "Billy" Heard

William “Billy” Wade Heard, 69, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 20, 2020, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. After suffering a stroke the end of May, his health had steadily declined. Graveside service and internment will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday,
October 22 at Rocky Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Bro. Michael Wells officiating.

Billy was born August 10, 1951, to William “Bill” and Peggy Wade Heard in Louisville, Mississippi. He graduated from Louisville High School. Billy was a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church and loved spending time with his church family. Billy loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed preparing bar-b-que for friends. He was a member of Nanih Waiya Hunting Club for a number of years. Billy began his career with Merchant Truck Lines and later owned several small businesses including JB’s convenience store in Pontotoc, Mississippi, Billy’s convenience store in Starkville, Mississippi, and ending his career as the owner of The Pack Rat in Louisville, Mississippi.

Billy is survived by his mother, Peggy Heard, his loving wife of 38 years Judy Coalson Heard, his children: Stephanie Heard Harris of Philadelphia Mississippi, Tammy Williamson Shaw (David) of Argo Alabama, Pam Williamson Wiygul of Columbus, Mississippi, Liz Williamson Spears (Damon) of Osyka Mississippi; his brother Danny Heard (Donna) of Louisville, Mississippi and sister-in-law Janet Heard of Louisville Mississippi. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tyler Salter, Reagan Harris, Brayden Harris, Bruce Shaw, Ashley Shaw, Wills Wiygul, Christopher Morris and Zack Morris as well as 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his dad, Bill Heard and his siblings: Michael and Lloyd Heard.

Barbara was born July 9, 1953, to John Henry and Beatrice Watkins Stevenson in Louisville, Mississippi. She enjoyed working in her flowers, cooking, and sewing. Barbara never met a stranger—she loved to talk! She dearly loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Barbara is survived by her daughters Michelle Tanksley of Louisville and Shannon Broussard (Oliver Bolt) of Noxapater. One of her greatest joys was being “Nanny” to her grandchildren: Skyler (Darrell) Moore, Tyler (Beth) Tanksley, Alexis (Kevin) Warner, Brandon Broussard, and Trenton Broussard. She also leaves behind her seven great-grandchildren: Quinton Tanksley, Sterling Tanksley, Kyler Walker, Aria Moore, Sadie Warner, Waylon Warner, and Collin. Barbara was preceded in death by husband Paul Edward Chunn, her parents, and her brother Harvey Eugene Stevenson.

Gladney Worrell

Gladney Luvell Worrell, 89, of Weir, MS, went home to his Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. Gladney loved the Lord, his family, friends, and Choctaw County. He had many jobs during his life. He worked in a service station, loaded groceries, delivered milk, drove a propane truck, but mostly, he was a carpenter and farmer. He taught Sunday School for almost 70 years, loved music, and served as Vice-President and President of the Choctaw County Singing Convention. Gladney was an elder at Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church. His prayer for his family was Isaiah 61:8-9, "In my faithfulness I will reward my people and make an everlasting covenant with them. Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the people. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed."

Gladney is survived by his wife, Vera Tennyson Worrell, his sons, Eugene(Bettye) and Kevin(Barbara); his grandchildren, Jennifer(Nathan) Easterwood, Joshua(Miranda) Worrell, Sara Worrell, Jonathan(Cheryl) Worrell, and Nathaniel(Lauren) Worrell; his great-grandchildren, Mason and Emily Easterwood, Rivers, Rylan, and Ramsey Worrell, Noah and Samuel Worrell. He is also survived by his sister Jimmie Sue Upchurch and his nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Stranburg and Mazie Worrell, and his sister, Faye Worrell.

Outside services will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m., with an outside visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of arrangements. Rev. Jerry Lawson, Eugene Worrell, and Jonathan Worrell will conduct the services. Pallbearers will be Joshua Worrell, Jonathan Worrell, Nathaniel Worrell, Nathan Easterwood, Mason Easterwood, and Adam Boggan.

Shirley Faye Hunt

Mrs. Shirley Faye Hunt, 67, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Shirley was born January 11, 1953, in Newton, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Larry Hunt of Louisville; three daughters, Sandy Lee Hunt, Heather Lynn Hunt, and Christy Renee Hunt, all of Louisville; a step-daughter, Joanne Houck of Winchester, CA; her mother-in-law, Margaret Fountain of Louisville; a sister, Jeannie Lou Brack; a brother, Michael Raye Brack; 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. 

A family memorial service will be held at a later date.









Dennis Brennan, Sr.

Dennis Brennan, Sr. passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Diversicare Nursing Center, in Eupora, MS. He was born December 20, 1939, in St. Louis, MO, to Frank C. and Emily(Kennedy) Brennan. He was 80 years old.

Mr. Brennan is survived by 1 son, Dennis(Lisa) Brennan, Jr. of Pearl, MS, 1 daughter, Maureen(Bill) Power of Ackerman, MS, 2 sisters, Emily Brennan Maull of St. Louis, MO, Moira Brennan of St. Louis, MO, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

Charlotte Ann Vickers

Charlotte Ann Vickers passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020, at her residence, in Sturgis, MS. She was born October 28, 1940, in Choctaw County, MS, to John and Mary Francis(Bagwell) Thompson. She was 79 years old.

Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Morgan Chapel Cemetery in Sturgis, MS, with Jeff Morgan and Luke Gardner officiating.

Mrs. Vickers is survived by 1 son, Keith(Sandy) Vickers of Sturgis, MS, 1 daughter, Sheila(Doug) Barksdale of Sturgis, MS, 1 brother, J.W. Thompson of St. Petersburg, FL, 1 sister, Eileen Alliston of Crystal Springs, MS, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Dale"Bud" Vickers, her parents, 1 brother, Hervey Thompson and 1 sister, Jeanette Barksdale.

Samantha Jean Pruitt

Samantha Jean Pruitt, 30, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020, at her home in Noxapater, Mississippi. There will be a private family service with interment following in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Samantha was born February 9, 1990, to Frances Smith Dupre and Joseph Wayne Pruitt in Starkville, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Noxapater Attendance Center and she also earned a degree from East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Mississippi. Samantha enjoyed her job working at Atwood Care Center where she loved taking care of her residents. She loved being outdoors where she especially enjoyed fishing and her animals. Her greatest joy was spending time with and loving her children.

Samantha is survived by her children Brice Adam Flores of Noxapater and Braylee Jean Pruitt of Columbus, Mississippi. She is also survived by her mother Frances Dupre of Noxapater, and her father Joseph Wayne Pruitt and special family friend Dolores Ross of Columbus. Samantha also leaves behind to mourn her passing her siblings: Bridget Anderson of Noxapater, Amanda Hampton of Macon, Mississippi, B. J. Williamson of Union, Mississippi, and Joseph Pruitt, Jr., of Macon. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Samantha was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Christine Sullivan, her maternal grandfather Vernon Smith, her paternal grandmother Betty Jean Hartsell Daniel, and her paternal grandfather Alfred J. Pruitt.

Samantha’s mother, brother and sister would like to give a special thank you to Shae Wyatt for bringing such peace and happiness to our baby this past year. The joy you gave her is something for which we will eternally be thankful.

Rev. Doug Herring

Rev. Doug “Chief” Herring, 88, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18 at Whitehead Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Lundy, Bruce Hosket, and Rusty McKnight officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville.
Doug was born October 20, to Harold Stanley and Willie Mae Sudduth Herring in Greenville, Mississippi. He faithfully attended Harmony Baptist Church in the Nanih Waiya Community and he was a member of the American Legion. Doug graduated from Greenville High School and Mississippi State University, and he attended Asbury Seminary in Kentucky. Bro. Doug was a minister and pastored various churches throughout his career. He also enjoyed his many missionary trips to Mexico and was founder and director of the Green Valley Boys Ranch. He answered the call of his country by serving eight years in the United States Army.

Bro. Doug is survived by his children: Marion Douglas Stoute of Jacksonville, Florida, Diana Buckner Vance and husband Danny of Coffeeville, Mississippi, and Christopher Timothy Herring and wife Marta of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “Granddaddy or Chief” to his five grandchildren: Christopher Owen Stoute, Christopher Hayden (Ning) Herring, Micah Timothy Herring, Sara Elizabeth Jackson, and Katherine Dale Hughes as well as his two great-grandsons Gerald Jackson and Asher Jack Herring. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Timothy (Linda) Philhower. Bro. Doug was preceded in death by his wife Marion Wason Herring, his sisters Josie Bell Herring and Martha Herring Hutcherson, and three brothers William Keith Herring, James Harvey Herring, and Robert Russell Herring.

Serving as pallbearers are Bill Boggan, Don Hubbard, Dan Mittan, Jimmy Parkerson, Sam Paten, Clay Phillips, Jared Reeser, and Jackie Thames. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Stoute, Hayden Herring, Micah Herring, Mike Fuller, Morris Miller, Fred Nabers, Mike Whitehead, and Robert Wynn. Memorials in honor of Bro. Doug may be given to French Camp Academy Development Office, One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745 with a designation for missions.
