Byron Lamar Baldwin, 65, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi, with his loving family at his side. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 21 in the Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain J. Courtney Shelvy officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in Crystal Ridge Cemetery.
Byron was born October 30, 1958, to George and Anne McConnell Baldwin in Pensacola, Florida. He is a member of Crystal Ridge Baptist Church. Byron served as a distinguished member of the Panama City Police Department from December 1981 until October 2005. From October 2005 to October 2007, he served in the Lynn Haven Police Department. Byron enjoyed his boat and he loved to fish. Anyone who knew Byron, knew that he loved nothing more than to play practical jokes on any unsuspecting person!
Byron is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen Hisaw Baldwin of Louisville; daughter, Amy Baldwin (Chase) Foster of Huntsville, Texas; and son, Matthew Dale Baldwin also of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “PopPop” to his grandchildren Madison and Holly Foster. He is also survived by his brother, George (Gwen) Baldwin of Birmingham, Alabama; as well as his loving nieces, Bragan Feldman and Morgan Moore; other family members; and friends. Byron was preceded in death by his parents.
Serving as pallbearers are CW2 Matthew Baldwin, Chase Foster, Aaron Sides, and Joey Pritchett. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in honor of Byron be given to the funeral home to help with expenses.
