Ruby Ann Rogers

Ruby Rogers was born to Willie and Bytha Flake on November 10, 1932 in Winston County. She passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at her residence in Louisville, Mississippi, with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 10 at 1 p.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Chapel with Dr. Mason Joy and Bro. Ed Newman officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in New Hope Methodist Cemetery in Louisville.

She was a lady who loved God, her family and taking care of others. She led by example. She didn't just talk to her children about God, she went with them to church and showed them how to live life as a Christian. She was a hard worker and gave her children a strong work ethic.

She was an excellent seamstress, cook, and gardener. Her yard and garden were her pride and joy. The only thing she enjoyed more than being on her John Deere mower was cooking her delicious pound cake and chicken and dumplings and sharing these with her family, neighbors, friends, and church family. She found great joy in providing meals for others.

She worked at Spartus Corporation for over 30 years while working alongside her family on their farm. She was a member of East Louisville Baptist Church for over 50 years. Ruby was a charter member of the local chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy; and for more than 50 years, she was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge #60.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Robertson and Frank Rogers; her son-in-law, Bruce Goodin; and grandsons, Chad Goodin and Matthew Robertson. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James Flake and George Flake; and her sisters, Maggie Eaves, Katherine McBrayer, and Minnie Hudspeth.

She leaves behind to mourn her children: Judy Goodin, Kay Whitehead, and Mike (Linda) Robertson; and her step-children, Frank Rogers and Dianne (Paul) Beard. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Brad Goodin, Kimberly Robertson, Summer (Jay) Goodwin, and Autumn (Brent) Jones; as well as her great-grandchildren: Ashton (Alex) May, Austin Goodin, Chandler Robertson, Justin Goodin, Camden Robertson, Lexi Ball, Hannah Goodwin, Kalee Goodin, Braeden Goodwin, Maison Ball, and Brock Jones.

Her family wishes to thank her very special niece Joyce Smith for the loving care over the last few months. Also thank you to Jesse Carter, Dr. Dustin Gentry, the staff at Winston Medical Center, Accent Care Home, and Accent Care Hospice for their care and guidance through this difficult time.

Serving as pallbearers are Maison Ball, Braeden Goodwin, Jay Goodwin, Jerry Hill, Brent Jones, Brock Jones, Camden Robertson, and Chandler Robertson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial in honor of Ms. Ruby be given to New Hope Cemetery Fund, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P. O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142, or French Camp Academy, One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745.

Our hearts are broken and we will miss this special lady so much but we rejoice and have peace knowing she is completely healed free of pain and rejoicing in the arms of Jesus.
