David was born January 11, 1947, to Charles Clifton and Jewel Florence Seals Chambliss in Winston County, Mississippi. For more than 20 years, he coached football and taught at Nanih Waiya Attendance Center. During his tenure, he won multiple district conference championships and influenced the lives of numerous students both on the field and in his classroom. Some years, he also coached the girls’ basketball team and was usually the assistant coach and designated bus driver for the baseball team. David was a hard worker—during the “off-time” from football, he cut pulpwood and tended his cows. He always loved a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains and was looking forward to making yet another trip to the mountains in June. He enjoyed watching any sports and eating Oreo cookies from morning to bedtime!
David is survived by two sons Cliff Chambliss and wife Angela of Villa Rica, Georgia; and Steve Chambliss of Hernando, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Pops” to his four grandchildren: Charlie Chambliss, Chaz Chambliss, Sawyer Chambliss, and Noelle Chambliss. He is also survived by two sisters Kathleen Chambliss of Jacksonville, Florida; and Beverly Quinn Jackson of Louisville; as well as two nieces Shannon Quinn also of Louisville and Bridget (Joe) Hoover of Jackson, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his wife Brenda Wiygul Montgomery Chambliss and his parents.
