Hilton Dewitt Whitmire went to be with his Heavenly Father at his home in Madison,
Mississippi, Monday morning, February 11, 2019 at the age of 91. Services will be held at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, MS. Visitation will held Thursday, February 14 at 11:00 AM with the service at 1:00 PM. Interment will be immediately afterwards at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery in McCool, MS.
Hilton was born December 3, 1927 in McCool, Mississippi to George Sanford Whitmire and Annie Beatrice Hunt Whitmire. He served in the United States Navy and was a WWII veteran.
After coming home he graduated from Mississippi State University. For 34 years, Hilton worked as an agent with Allstate Insurance. He was a member of Shriners International for more than 50 years and was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in McCool, MS.
Hilton is survived by his wife of 27 years, Martha Reed Black Whitmire. He was the father to three daughters: Tammy Whitmire King of Bentonia, Terri Whitmire Henderson (Randolph) of Learned, Tara Leigh Whitmire Hanks (Wade) of Raymond, and four step-children: Mitch Black (Dean) of Madison, Jan Black Howell (Skip) of Pearl, Susan Black Patterson (Rob) of Madison, and Doug Black of Pearl. Grandchildren include Rachel Henderson Harris (Matt), Taylor Anne May (Montana), Joanna King, Casey Whitmire, Barrett Smith (Amy), Wayne Black (Sally), Sara Black, Benjamin Black and 8 great grandchildren, one brother, Shelton Whitmire (Lottie) of McCool, MS and 11 first-cousins.

Hilton was predeceased in death by his parents, brothers Ira Sanford Whitmire (Hilda Mae) and Gerald Whitmire (Peggy) and 28 first cousins.
