Mrs. Mozell Taylor Maxey, 98, made her long awaited move to her eternal home in Glory on August 9, 2018. Mozell was born December 11, 1919 in Winston County, MS, to Amos Lee Alexander and Minnie Pearl (Price) Taylor. Mozell was the beloved wife of the late Walter Maxey of Noxapater, MS. Also preceding her in death were her siblings, Mary Virginia (Morris), Cora Lee (Belcher), Nettie Alva (Holliman), Willie May, Annie Mable (Donald), Linnie Pearl, Ida Corrie, Evie Lucille, Mazie Bernice (Quinn), Henry Willis, and Leonard O’Neill Morris (nephew raised as a brother).
Mozell is survived by her daughters: Nadine Estes and husband Jerry of Noxapater and Connie Reed and husband Dannie of Ackerman. One of her greatest joys was being Mamaw to her grandchildren: Jay Estes (Jan), Teresa Price (Danny), Austin Reed (Robin), Casey Reed (Jessica), Cristin Henson, and Tyler Reed. She also leaves behind 7 great-grandchildren: Danielle Price (Brian Sipes), Madison & Colton Reed, Cara & Sawyer Henson, and Maxey & Nolen Reed; her nieces and nephews, too many to name. She loved us all.
Mozell was Baptist by faith. She was a wife, mother, homemaker, and excellent cook who loved to cook for everyone. Upon the death of her husband, she was appointed Justice of the Peace to complete his term. Mamaw loved playing cards and seemed to always get the aces. She loved entertaining and being entertained by her great grandchildren. Mozell loved life and kept her fun wit and sense of humor until the end. Even though she was wracked with pain, she always had a kind word for everyone.
How thankful we are for the blessing and influence she has been in our lives, and we celebrate with her as she is now in the arms of her Savior, whole and pain free!
Serving as pallbearers are Jay Estes, Austin Reed, Tyler Reed, H. B. Maxey, Brian Sipes and Danny Price.
