Scott O’Brian Fowler, 47, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home in Petal, MS, on Sunday, December 27, 2015.
Scott is survived by his two daughters, Kayla Fowler of Dallas, TX, and Caitlyn Fowler of Gulfport, MS; his parents, Steve Fowler of Philadelphia, MS, and Jerry Odom Fowler of Petal, MS; stepparents, Peggy Fowler, Dale and Jeannie Barrier all of Philadelphia, MS; siblings, Shane Fowler of Brandon, MS, Apryl Lea Parkerson of Larkspur, CO, Chuck Lea of Madison, MS, Stevie Barrier of Louisville, MS, and Shannon Barrier of Corinth, MS. He also left behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and sisters/brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Inman O. Fowler and Anita Hardin Fowler, Coallye Odom all of Jackson, MS.
Scott was born on July 10, 1968, in Jackson, MS. He graduated from Philadelphia High School in 1986. Scott went on to become a successful Electronic Engineer in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he was awarded several medals, awards, and bronzes for his deployments, Navy Battle, and Combat actions. In 1992, he was honorably discharged from the Navy and returned home. Scott moved to Petal, MS, and began his career with Howard Industries as a Medical Engineer. Out of every job title, accomplishment, or award he most cherished the title of Dad.
Scott was well known for his humor in the darkest of hours, his humble spirit and loyalty to friends, family, and those in need. He was passionate about BBQs, down home cooking, and Mississippi State Football and New Orleans Saints Football and if only the coaches and refs could’ve heard his calls through the television, or got those boys some BC Powder for their apparent hangovers…. he was certain we would’ve won that game!
He was an active and dedicated member of the Venture Church a.k.a. First Baptist Church of Hattiesburg.
The family would like to thank all of you that have come to help us celebrate the life of Scott O’Brian Fowler the father, son, brother, and friend.
Those shoes may never be filled, but left footprints on the hearts of every person that loved and adored him so.
