Mr. Benny Rosamond, 87, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at his residence in Preston, Mississippi. Visitation will be Monday, May 20, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, with Rev. Jerry Lundy officiating. Interment will follow in Rosamond Cemetery.
Mr. Rosamond was born on October 17, 1925, to Henderson and Clara Luke Rosamond. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Methodist Church. Mr. Rosamond was retired from the military and a business owner. He answered the call of his country during World War II and during the Korean War by serving in and retiring from the United States Army.
Mr. Rosamond is survived by his daughters, Angela Kight and husband, Ken of Louisville, and Martina Sciple of Preston, Mississippi; and his son, Neal Rosamond and wife, Amy, also of Louisville. He is also survived by five sisters: Peggy Palmer; Dot Phillips and husband, Leon; Laine Hayes and husband, Tommy; Faye Bargainer; and Lota Weichsel; and one brother, Joe Rosamond and wife, Mary Ann. Mr. Rosamond is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Valerie Walker and husband, Brandon; Cody Johnson; Kenny Kight; Sarah Kight; Anna Sciple; Andrea Sciple; Will Holmes; Luke Rosamond; Morgan Parkes; Channing Parkes; and Nick Jowers; and one great-grandson, Seth Holmes. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ursula Anna Rosamond and his parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richie Lovorn, John Wallace, Denney Jowers, Eddie Sciple, Will Holmes, Jerry Whitehead, Luke Parkes, and Nick Jowers. Memorials may be given to Gideon’s International, P. O. Box 556, Louisville, MS 39339.
