Mr. John Paul Covington, 81, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 23rd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Billy Bowie officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at Porter Funeral Home.
Mr. Covington was born January 11, 1932, in Philadelphia, MS. He received his B. S. degree from Mississippi State University; and was a farmer. He was an Army veteran of Korea, and was a member of First Baptist Church, where served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Edwards Covington of Louisville; a son, James Allen Covington of Noxapater; three daughters, Cathy (Billy) Coleman of Columbus, MS, Linda (David) Humphries of Louisville, and Dr. Beth (Trey) Fleming of Vicksburg, MS; a brother, David Covington of Noxapater; and six grandchildren, Tyler Reynolds Coleman, Anna Clair Coleman, Evan Wade Humphries, Eric Tom Humphries, Regan Fleming, and Robert Allen Fleming.
Pallbearers are David Humphries, Evan Humphries, Billy Coleman, Tyler Coleman, Trey Fleming, and Reagan Fleming.
