Mrs. Vaughn was born on October 23, 1937. She lived in the Nanih Waiya area for 50 years and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She was also a member of Neshoba Baptist Church.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by one daughter, Vicky Higginbotham of Noxapater, Mississippi; two step-daughters, Janice Usry and Brenda McCorey both of Union, Mississippi; three sons, Randy Slawson of Hendersonville, Tennessee; Paul Slawson and wife, Jessica, of Henderson, Kentucky; and Wayne Slawson and wife, Jennifer of Ashland City, Tennessee; one sister; Lexie Barnes Craft of Raleigh, Mississippi; and three brothers: John Barnes of Chicago, Illinois; Robert Barnes and wife, Loretta, of Langley, Oklahoma; and Eddie Barnes of Ackerman, Mississippi. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Slawson and Fred Vaughn; her parents, Bill and Ethel Fortenberry Barnes; a son, Michael R. “Mike” Slawson; and her brother, Hulon “Pete” Barnes.
Pallbearers will be Billy Charles Stokes, Lavern Green, Jerry Russell, Carl Noel Stokes, David Foster, and Fred Stokes. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718,Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
