Grace Irene Hood

Mrs. Grace Irene Hood, 92, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at her home in Meridian, MS. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 19th, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Trent Jaudon officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hood was born April 26, 1926, in Noxapater, MS. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Hood, Sr.; her parents, Hattie and Shorty Johnson; a grandson, Clayton Wirgau; and numerous brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Wirgau of Meridian, MS; her son, Hugh (Ann) Hood, Jr. of Crestview, FL; one sister, Bobby Jean Moody of Louisville; one granddaughter, Rebecca J. Harris; 2 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

Donna M. Green, 58, retired teacher of twenty-six years, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at her residence in Ackerman, MS, after a lengthy illness. Donna was a member of the Ackerman Church of Christ in Ackerman, MS. She was born January 24, 1960, in Choctaw County, Mississippi. Parents were James and Dorothy(Black) McAdams.

Funeral Services for Donna were held on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Ackerman Church of Christ in Ackerman, MS. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday, November 16, 2018, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS.

Donna is survived by her husband, Luskey,1 daughter, Deidre Green from Jackson, TN, step-mother, Carrie Prewitt McAdams, 2 step-sisters, Paulette Jones(Mike) of Meridian, MS, Cheryl Salem(Harry) of Rancho Mirage, CA, 2 step-brothers, Tim Prewitt(Cindy) of Tupelo, MS, Heath Prewitt(Cindy) of Starkville, MS, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, and 1 sister, Carol.

He was born March 13, 1972 in Winston County, Louisville, Mississippi, and was the only son of Dr. and Mrs. Bobby James (Belinda Wright) Hudson. He resided in Atlanta, Georgia and San Francisco, California.

William "Billy" Alexander

Mr. William V. Alexander, Sr., 71, affectionately known as “Billy” or “Shorty”, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at his home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 14th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Hank Dempsey officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Welcome Chapel Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Alexander was born July 13, 1947, in Winston County, MS. He was a truck driver, having driven for KLM and JMS, among others. He was an Army veteran and a member of Welcome Chapel Jesus Name Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis Dempsey Alexander; and his parents, Rehon and Willard Van Alexander.

He is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Johnson of Louisville; two sons, Jimmy (Lynn) Alexander of Philadelphia, MS, and Toby (Kayla) Alexander of Louisville; two sisters, Gwen Kiser of Terry, MS, and June Culver of Holly Springs, MS; two brothers, Randy Alexander of Kato, MS, and J. C. Alexander of Orlando, FL; 9 grandchildren, Jarrod, Kymberly, Madelynn, Hayden, Kayla, Amanda, Jimmie Dale, Hugh and Paige; and three great grandchildren, Jolie Cate, Jaxson, and Hailyyn.

On Friday November 9, 2018, Roberta Christine Rutledge, age 92, passed peacefully from this earthly life at the Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, MS to her heavenly home. She received her heavenly healing in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Charlotte Tabor Nabers

Charlotte Tabor Nabers, 58, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 9, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital—Golden Triangle in Columbus, Mississippi. Visitation will be Saturday, November 10, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville and on Sunday, one hour prior to the service at First Methodist Church. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018, at First Methodist Church of Louisville with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Charlotte was born in Louisville on March 28, 1960, to William Earl Tabor, Jr. and Frances Johnson Tabor. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Louisville where she enjoyed playing in the Bell Choir. She was an avid bridge player and loved her bridge friends. Charlotte earned a Specialist Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts Degree in Administration from Mississippi State University. She served in various roles during her career in education. She was the Program Manager of Safe School Healthy Children for four years; Program Manager of Building Strong Families for two years; Principal of Galloway Elementary School in Jackson for nine years; Principal of Louisville Elementary School for seven years; a classroom teacher for seven years; and Assistant Principal at Watkins Elementary School for two years. Charlotte was a member of Phi Mu Sorority at Mississippi State University where she graduated summa cum laude. She was also a member of the Mississippi Association of Educators and the Mississippi Retired Personnel Association.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter Braeden Nabers of Louisville. She is also survived by two sisters: Brenda T. Hunt and husband Richard; and Mary Tabor and husband Gary Hillhouse; her brother Bill Tabor and wife Janis; and her special friend Tim Horton all of Louisville. She was preceded in death by parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Greg Clark, Justin Hillhouse, Bobby Moore, Mark Read, Stephen Read, and Will Tabor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to M. D. Anderson, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P. O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142, or Crosswalk Ministries, P. O. Box 625, Louisville, MS 39339.

James Al McCulloch

James Al McCulloch, 75, retired manager of Delta Telephone Company, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Choctaw Regional Medical Center in Ackerman, MS, after a lengthy illness. Mr. McCulloch was a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS. He was born July 25, 1943, in Mississippi. Parents were Allie and Sarah E.(Landrum) McCulloch. Mr. McCullochretired as manager of Delta Telephone Company after many years of service. After retiring, he was an avid gardener and loved to fish. Spring and early summer he could be seen most days at Choctaw Lake.

Funeral Services for Mr. McCulloch were held on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at 3:00 p.m., at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery.

Mr. McCulloch is survived by his wife of 22 years, Linda W. McCulloch, 1 son, Wade McCulloch(Joni) of Ackerman, MS, 1 daughter, Kandie Jones(Virgil) of Ackerman, MS, 1 step-son, Wesley Ford of Southaven, MS, and 1 brother, Larry McCulloch(Carol) of Vinton, VA. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Megan and Tori McCulloch, Dillon, Dawson, and Sierra Jones, all of Ackerman, MS, and 1 step-grandchild, McKenzie Ford of Southaven, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
